View Full Version : The Noble Sport Of Jabber Baiting

Living in social groups, Jabbers make their homes in a series of tunnels and chambers known as Leicester. Their diet consist mainly of earthworms, but the omnivorous Jabber will also take mice, rabbits, voles, whelks and small insects. Being largely nocturnal, food is gathered at night. Jabbers are territorial and prefer well-drained areas, often on the edge of a wood with easy access to feeding areas.

Jabbers are rarely aggressive except to other Jabbers which encroach into their territory, however they are extremely tough and strong - which is one reason why Jabbers have no natural enemies. It is thought that the distinctive ginger stripes on a Jabbers face are a warning sign designed to avoid confrontation. Jabbers have only one predator WOMAN.

So Jabber Baiting:

Is it a cruel and barbaric activity or a legitimate (and fun) sport necessary to keep this pest under control? Could we get it added to the London Olympics?

Discuss.

P.S.

Tsk. tsk, there's no hope for you.

(By the way, you'll need to build a decent size run to go with that cage, he'll need a bit of exercise to get him fit.)

Behaviour:

The behaviour of Jabbers differs by family, but all shelter underground, living in burrows called Leicesters. Some are solitary, moving from home to home, while others are known to form clans. Clan size is variable between 2 to 15. Jabbers are fierce animals and will protect themselves and their Socks at all costs. Jabbers are capable of fighting off other animals such as whelks, wolves, and Teddy-bears.

Amazing, what you can find on Google.... :hihi:

This will all end in tears.
Jabberwocky's are wild animals and will fast die if kept in captivity.
This is an appeal from the save the jabberwock fund...please PM me your bank details if you wish to make a donation.

The numbers of Wocks living in the wild has plummeted over recent years due to stupid rich people wanting that exotic and slightly whiffy pet to show off with.

Together we can stop this wonderful species from disappearing from our woodlands and heaths completely, and once more the night air will carry the gentle cry of the mating Jabberwock which goes something like thishttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wPNLYxgMGuE

Here we have the loony ravings of a poor victim of wock and mouth disease. Everyone please have some sympathy for this poor deluded creature - she doesn't know what she's saying :hihi:

Just a quick update on the Jabber I caught last night. At first I thought it was male, as indicated by the snivelling and whimpering it did when it realised it was trapped, but then I saw its huge distended stomach and realised that it was probably a pregnant female so I released it to ensure an adequate supply of Jabbers for future baiting.

Remember - bait responsibly :D

Since the numbers of Jabbers in the wild have dropped there is now a ban on shooting them, for sport or food. However Japanese jabbering boats have recently been spotted in our waters again.

Please help to save the Jabberwocky!

Just £10 can feed a family of wocks for a minute

£50 can build enough tyre swings to keep a family of wocks entertained for a day.

£100 will give a male wock enough money to buy a mate!
