Hi
Can anyone please help. I have got twins that where born 15 weeks early. They are now nearly 9 months old. Our son Balde is still in the hospital, but due to come home in a couple of weeks. We recently found out he is deaf, but is has also got a trackie in his throat and is on oxygen. Well while he has been in the hospital, he has fell in love with 1 toy it is called a Mirror Chimeabout. To buy this for him would cost us £54 from the Rompa site. So I was wondering if there are any groups or other places I could try first to either borrow or buy it. Please pm me if you could help, we would be really greatful of it.
Thanks Rosemarie & Family xxx

I think I know the one you mean. Is it the one that has rectangle mirrors that have bells and hang from a 'roundabout' kind of thing (which goes round)?

If so my daughter loved this too when she was little (born 12 weeks early - she is now 5 and a healthy happy little girl who has CP).

I am trying to think where you could borrow one from. Please let me know if it is the one I described above, so I know what i'm trying to find!

Hi
Yes it is that 1 that you described, he just loves it. It is the only thing that gets his attention. I would be over the moon if we could get him 1.

Not 100% here !!

But im quite sure that the children informations service or possibley Ryegate, do some sort of toy loaning service.

Im off to bed now, but i will have a look through some paperwork that ive got over the weekend.

Ive followed your thread, so please to hear that your little lad will be home soon :)

Hi
Thank you for the links I will have a look at them now and yes that is the one I am meaning. Now you can see what I mean about the price. It would be great if some clever forumer could make one. They could also make a fortune on them. LOL

Another thing is that you can apply for DLA, once he's home. I know its a heartbreaking thing to do for a child (ive been there to :( ) . But the extra you get will certainly make buying expensive toys like this alot easier.

This is certainly true.

It took me 6 weeks to fill in the first DLA form for my daughter as I ended up in tears all the time. In the end someone from Scope helped me. I think it's a great thing to get help with.

Now my daughter gets it and I just have to do a renewal form as and when necessary, which isn't nearly as heart wrenching, but I still get others to help me complete it as I don't trust my own judgment. (in the sense that I don't see things as 'bad' as others do as she is just herself to me, KWIM?)

But it's great to get and use for things just like the mirror bell mobile, that ordinarily I just wouldn't be able to afford. But glad you got this sorted
