Hi

Sheffield forum is grate.

I was interested in other forums like this with lots of members, surely nearly every city in the UK must have one. Im particularly interested in forums for cities down south.

Does anyone know the urls? pls post them here

ta!:)

Google is your friend :D

The Mods don't like us linking to "competition" you see, any problems with that, contact the Helpdesk.

I believe there's another one being worked on at the moment that covers the whole country with subsections for each city and area that can interact when similar threads are created, with more bells and whistles and even an in house search engine.

Other cities are in the dark ages mate! SF works 'cos Sheffield and its population are unique :)

There's a Southport forum which is a lot smaller obviously, but just as gobby as this one, complete with trolls, bitching and 'characters' ;) My bold

Gobby? Who the hell are you calling gobby, sunshine????

And the reason no other cities have such a busy, popular Forum as Sheffield, is because we're all so nice and friendly to everyone else on SF :hihi:

I had a glance at the Leeds Forum earlier but it's nowhere near as good or as busy as this one.

Just had a look at Leeds Forum. They say SF is over moderated, cliquey, and people come down `like a ton of bricks` on bad spellers.
Do we care what they think? Set Jabbers on `em

I have friends in Birmingham who tell me that this thread http://www.birminghamforum.co.uk/index.php/topic,357.0.html
on their forum from a Sheffielder has caused some upset to the point that the thread was locked for apparently telling the truth.

If you are looking at the same thread I am, it was started by someone banned on this forum, and someone we aren't allowed to discuss.

I will just say.

I wouldn't worry about his criticisms we are better off as a family friendly forum, without being dragged down to his level. He has so far only made 35 posts there.... I expect he will soon be trying their tolerance. (His avatar image is probably in breach of their rules already).

i use it quite a lot for keeping up with whats happening back at home and to keep in touch with old mates.

I've seen mention of the guy before, so had a look and read the thread, it seemed a little puerile to me.

.......and that avatar, well, hmm, what can one say, what on earth is he thinking of.

How are sites/forums dedicated to other cities 'competition'? Why would anyone choose to post on a forum for the residents of a place 300 miles from them? There are plenty of other forums on the net covering 'general' topics, so why choose a forum for some place you may never have been?

Ah yes. He's very very banned from SF. A quick resume from way back:

Violent threats
Hitler
Racism
Homophobia
Anti-semitism
Thai ladyboys

To his credit I think he's a bit of a reformed character these days.

grate ?

We used to have them when we had open fires, They were the focal point of the room and provided the only warmth we had in our meagre hovels. Consequently we thought they were great.

I was looking for a Cambridge forum the other day.

The best I could come up with were the Gum Tree sites.

Does anyone know of one?

Cheers Tony,

I'm not going to make a comment since he can't defend himself..........but I get the drift.

In fairness I think we have tendencies to certain prescriptions, for instance I find I'm a little anti semitic but if anyone looked around for my postings regarding Jews one would see me defending Israel to the hilt against all comers.

Regulation of our own phobias and programing such that we can recognise the truth for what it is is the mark of a grown up I believe, but there's lots of people around who seem happy to live in their own never never land.

Does any anyone know of a discussion forum for the oxfordshire area, I'm trying to find one that covers Plougley near Bicester in the hope of trying to find my Nan's long lost sister. Long shot I know but I thought I'd give it a go, either I'm a pleb or I can't find anything forum wise. So any help or advice, much appreciated.
