I'm hearing lots of rumors of a new club opening in September, anybody got any details? Has Simon Raine finally got off his backside to bring us another club after the "closures" of Bed and Republic?

Theres already talk of this over on facebook, just wondered if anybody had a clue?

More than likely to be another Sharon & Tracey club like Embrace....

Not really much a market left in the Dance scene sadly in Sheffield with Plug & DQ doing the business

Unless its a way to drum up publicity for Oceana?

I'd include Nylon as doing the business for dance music, probably more so than DQ

is it the BASEMENT, formerly Under the Boardwalk???

That's what I think it is... just from the tag line on face book. Ah well -as Embrace has to close, another one opens...

Wow 2010 in just eighteen months like you say Edna that really is quite scary, pension time for me soon. I hope we do get a new club soon haven't had a REALLY good night in a club for about a month. That's not because i haven't been out for a month.

I keep a keen interest in the new buildings and developments in town and I am fairly sure that there are no plans to demolish that block with its closed nightcubs and carpark at the moment.

However as there will soon be 2 massive new multistorey carparks opening, it wouldn't be a surprise if this old one finishes up as surplus to requirements.

The rumour is Crasher may put on regular events at the Academy so he might just get his wish. Also, are there any nights is sheffield that heavily feature prog house ? I reckon that could be the way to go!

In my dreams, someone like Terry George will reopen the old Fuel as a Gay club to be proud of...

I liked Gatecrasher, and was disappointed that it didn't reopen in the old Roxy; at least the Carling Academy that HAS opened there has some great live music!

Just hope there is some where by septemeber.

Embrace isn't closing until 2010, as far Gatecrasher they are starting from September to hold event at the Carling Academy...As for a new home for Gatecrasher then ok it's a little out of town but so was republic from all the bars but i think the old Carpet World next to Decathlon would make a great club.

I've read that facebook group too and pretty sure its just a way to drum up interest. Afterall its only a facebook group it hardly has to be correct. I imagine "new club" will just mean a big bar has changed its name and turned all "club" on us.

The facebook group actually says "New Superclub for Sept 2008" do you really think nobody would know any info about a superclub opening in 3 months? Where is all the building works? And there would be some proffessional PR if it was..

I havn't heard or seen anything but.......whatever happened to Club Wow when it (thankfully) shut? That would seem to be a big space that could be easily converted into a decent 'super'club without anyone really noticing.

It isn't exactly the best economic climate to start opening a new club, or even to keep one going; there's a certain other 'former' club very near arundel Gate whose parent company in another city has just gone bust, so I heard; don't quote me on this, cos its only rumors I've heard but I won't be surprised if its the truth...:hihi:

So i was RIGHT then, Simon Raine made his promises that the NEW crasher would of been up and running by september, did he mean the crasher nights that are now at the academy? we were promised a new club..

NEVER has sheffield clubland been so depressing with a small amount of promoters and DJs having an almost mafia like strangelhold on this fair citys entertainment.

We have heard of Simon Raine applying for planning permission, and Babylon is open and running and there are offers on the Tower to be a steak bar and club ( cant see me and mine dancing our tits of after a 36oz T Bone ye never know) However Club Shush on the wicker Capacity just under 1,000 was due to open on 26/9/08 but due to planning was postponed until Saturday 25/10/08 launch night Kaboom with Tony Walker , Richard Williams, Bitter and Twisted and a whole host of DJs including Dimitry Soul, also have just heard that Chaos Theory (Gatecrasher after party) has just booked same venue for thier party after crasher red and black at the acadamy because penelopes could not get a late license Kaboom 2 rooms 12 till 7 Chaos Theory 1 to 2 room 5 till 12 c,mon down to Shush 130 The wicker for proper clubbing for proper clubbers newly refurbished and licensed also Bar Shush will be opening next door mid november license app has been in for last two months and no objections so watch this space or go to Hen and Chix for further info

Correct. Its was a load of marketing rubbish to get people excited. The 'new club' is actually just another night at the Carling Academy called 'Vodka Nationwide'. yet another tactic by promoters to fill the night.

Yeah i'm bored of all these student nights with the same formula - some cheap drinks, generic indie/cheesy dance music and z-list celebrities. I'm sure a lot of the students must be fed up too. At least Sheffield University holds some good student nights such as Tuesday Club.

I find this strange as Vodka Nationwide was already a night at Embrace, it just transferred over.

I always thought this alledged super club was related to the former fuel/gossips/utopia building next to Plug which had all three under offer at the same time, those three put together would have made a huge club.
