I used to have a great game called marble run with the little magnetic ball and you had to get it over the obstacles it was so good.

Scrabbles the best though.

This sounds a bit like an old game called Screwball Scramble that I used to have when I was a kid.

Chess

September - a christmas fad game from circa 1987 - but actually quite good.

Diplomacy - the best board game ever for 7 people.

Anyone fancy some forum chess? I'm no good, used to go to a club a few years ago, but got bored of being completely thrashed by spotty adolescents.

I'd rather play backgammon. There are loads of ways to play online and it doesn't take forever like chess can.

Do you use the doubling dice? It adds more skill to the game and takes some of the luck out of it.

Go to this site and download Jellyfish. Probably the best free backgammon program you can get.....
http://jelly.effect.no/

The www backgammon FAQ is here...
http://www.gammoned.com/wwwbg/backgammon/

and loads more info here...

I'd recommend trying to learn how to use the doubling dice - it makes it a totally different game.

There's a 2nd and 3rd edition of Talisman? I think I must have the first one. I loved that game!

Also have:
Cluedo
Monopoly
Lost Valley of the Dinosaurs (!)
Mike Read's Pop Quiz game (cr@p)
Othello
And er, maybe a couple of others.

I'm glad to see so many others of you still have board games. My mum tried to throw them out of her house but I said "Er, I'll take those!".

The 2nd edition of Talisman is excatly the same as the first but the board is made up of 4 large jigsaw you fit togther. The first one is a folded up board.

The 3rd edition is quite a bit different, more professional. The characters are 3d models that you can paint. Many new spells and adventure cards and they are more like playing card quality with rounded corners. The characters lives, strength, etc... is now a plastic cone instead of paper.

I have most of the expansion set that goes with it too.

Played Talisman last Sunday night.

Ooh thanks! I must have the first one then cos mine's a folding up board. Ah, the nolstalgia! None of my friends had Talisman and if I mention it to anyone now-a-days they've usually never heard of it. Does the 3rd edition still have the Hag?! She was nasty wasn't she?!

Screwball Scramble - loved that game!

I havent got many games now i moved in with my partner left most of them to my younger sisters.

we have Monopoly and Trivial Pursuits :o HOW EXCITING! We both tend to play more on the computer though, which is a shame really. They will probably become obsolete soon :(

In the last band I was in we all played Risk on the tour bus. Not a good idea to play this if your band are having spots of in-fighting anyway.

I'll always remember the huge fight we had after the drummer smacked the guitarist round the head after shouting "I f***ing attacked Kamchatka not Japan you ****".

Rock n Roll ;)

My favourite board game as a kid was probably Monopoly. It is a great token of capitalism and I thoroughly enjoyed winning it everytime I played. I also enjoyed Chess and Subbuteo (if thats a board game), and owned many more board games too. Too many to mention really.

Used to have a board game called AD4000 which involved lots of fiddly playing bits. Never finished a game though as one or other of the cats would either lie on the board or walk across it scattering pieces hither and yon.

Boggle is the number one game atm.

Sheffield Shares!

A kind of Monopoly clone where you buy shares in Sheffield companies.

As a monopoly fan, did you ever play the double 'variant' where you play with two sets, and overlap the boards on the free parking square giving a figure of eight path?

We were lucky in that the property cards from each set were a different colour on the back. We also used to pay all fines into a kitty which was donated to the next person to land on free parking.

Scrabble and Triv.

I've played loads of different games, and I'm sure I've owned loads, but over the course of time they get borrowed, lost, car booted, etc.

I used to own this game. Although I never actually bothered to play it. I moved house and it appears to have been lost as I can no longer find it.

We did sometimes pay fines into the kitty for people landing on free parking but never tried playing with 2 boards linked together. Sounds a good idea, especially with a lot of people playing.
