29th May 2008 to 21st September 2008

Yes I want to visit it too. Carrie's dress in the SATC film just shows that she's still got it.

Saw some people on the train who had been invited to the opening, not really my thing, but we had a good laugh on the train so i might check it out.

Vivienne Westwood is one of the few unique/original/creative people in this country.

I went Wednesday evening.
Simply stunning! and I'm not a fan. Always thought she was too eccentric and unwearable.
I still think she's eccentric and unwearable, but brilliant! Each piece is a work of art, and so influential. It's amazing to realise how many trends she started.
The woman's a genius, do go if you can.

I'm gonna definatly have to go to this. My fav designer is Julian MacDonald, not that it has anything whatsoever to do with this thread, but anyway.:hihi:

As a complete sidetrack, my mate's mum, who is known for having a few too many, was talking to this bloke at a party who was a designer. I think she got her "one tag suits all" ideas mixed up and started telling him all about how she used to go to school with Julian McDonald's parents. The guy stood there gawping at her and my mate's mum carried on passing out these trivial facts about Julian McDonalds parents. All of a sudden, he stopped her and said "oh my God, I thought you were on about Jane McDonald!":o Suddenly mate's mum street cred was on the floor. :hihi:

Anyway i finally got round to doing Viv on Friday. Really enjoyed it, well worth the money (except i got a freebie:hihi:) and amazing how many trends i realised she inspired as a teen. I remember wearing the vile tube skirt made out of dishcloth - mine was electric blue - also fluorescents and sports wear featured heavily in her trends. I didn't feel quite so eclectic once i'd walked round the early 80s stuff. The ballgowns and corsets are fabulous and you get to see the Naomi shoes!

I sneaked in when I went to the opening of the get knitted display and it's well worth a trip. The stuff there is fabulous and unique - I would love to see her reaction to Meadow Hall's current "dare to be different" promo!!!
