Hi

Just wondered if anybody had heard the rumours about Brannigans closing after Christmas? I heard it from a barman in my local pub and wondered if it was true?

I heard that Club Wow was going to become a casino - but as for Brannigans I couldn't tell you. I don't really think either will be missed will they?!

i heard they were turning that whole area into a themed skyscraper skyline entertainment area with bungee jumping and suicide areas.

Club Wow certainly isn't missed.

I heard the Casino rumours aswell and wondered about Brannigans because they surely can't survive on their own!

sorry. most of my posts are pretty tongue en cheek. i'm not really into those smiley things people put up - maybe i should be.

don't know if brannigans is closing, have been once and to 'club wow' when they first opened, thought they were dire. is wow shut now?

Anyway, isn't Brannigans grossly overpriced and generally crap? You don't get much change from a fiver for a bottle of beer.

Back on topic - Brannigans

I think Brannigans have been stuggling, I saw the Brannignans in Stoke close last Xmas, they sold all inclusive tickets(as much booze as you like) for xmas and new years eve, around about £20 and then it closed down before xmas came around.

Beware, I can see it happening again.

Just aswell if it does close down - I think they should make it into a multi-storey car park and the same with club Wow - I think am possessed by this, the ghost of Sheffield Council!

About time they stamped out underage sex and under age drinking in Sheffield, i thought it ended with Europa but carried on to Brannigans.

Horrendous place. I went there last month for a hen party. Lots of very small men (not much more than five and a half feet) and ugly women kissing them randomly in passing. Cringeworthy 80s music. They played 'Livin on a Prayer by Bon Jovi' - one of the worst commericalised rock songs of the 80s and everyone went mad. I went to the bar.....

I wonder what'll happen to the place and all the fixtures and fittings. They have a decent lighting rig there.

I know they do a free bar until a certain time early evening...seen the adverts in UGC cinema! i do feel sorry for them but at least they get some of the bowling/restaurant/cinema crowd on the weekend...

what week nights are they open?

They only open thursday friday and sat nights!
And that free bar is a bit dodgy cos my mate used to work there and they only put like one or two people serving so you have to wait ages for a drink (so you dont actually get to abuse the free bar which makes it pointless in my view!)

its not dodgy at all that is their strategy for free bars is to have less staff on bar so they're not giving away too many drinks away ;)

you can abuse it if you drink REAL fast :D

Does anyone know whats happening with this lot? Last I heard brannigans was shutting and both that and club wow were going to move to the roxy! Is there any truth in this anyone know?

Doesn't the re-opening of the Roxy rumour appear at least twice a year?

I think the last one was that Kingdom had bought it...

It seems that, alas! The memory of the Dirty Roxy will never be relived...

Did anyone else ever think it strange that it became a church after it shut down? After some of the things I witnessed in there, its practically sacreligious...

not sure whats happening but there were builders going into wow on monday?

One of my earliest memories of going out on the lash was getting stuck to the floor in the Roxy!

Club wow closed a while back didn;t it ?

Some friends went to centertainment mid week and said the place was really quiet. the cinema and bowling alley were busy, but the rest were virtually empty.

I wouldn't be suprised if brannigans closed eventually and I think the other restaurants must be a bit worried too.

Shame, I think going out for a meal before a gig at the arena, best way to get parked!

You know they are struggling when they are doing a free bar on a friday (and saturday?) from 9pm-10pm!

Doormen there are nice tho :)

hip hip horay...my mates made me go in saturday, it was terrible. the highlight of my night was my drunken friend caz breaking the statue. (maybe they will auction everything and i can buy it for her birthday)

i went a year ago it was..............................horrible!

I cant see the resturants being worried becuase when ever ive been in there theyre always busy and ive been in the one places in the middle , all at different times of the day and different days of the week

Last we heard, Club WOW was being turned into a casino, but they were having trouble with obtaining the license.
Arbuckles has also been gutted but dunno what that is going to be.

That won't be turned into a casino- if they built one there its going to be a HUGE one further u the road!!!

I heard kingdom is about to shut and move to the roxy disco tho!!!

letz just hope club WOW is shutting down and NOT re-opening ANYWHERE!!!

nothing is happening to the Roxy, it would cost to much to refurbish. The owners are just sitting on it until land values rise and they think they can get the most value for the land, (hopefully once the E Campus gets going) then they will sell and it will be knocked down and transformed into another new gateway into the city, possibly with escalators, mm nice.

I though Roxy's was going to be transformed into a large shopping arcade, they got planning permission about 3 years ago

has anyone been in there recently? whats it like nowadays?

also, does anyone know what it costs to get in there and at what time does it come into effect.

going down to centertainment for my birthday so we might go there since its close.

Your best bet is to get a tram into town- it only takes about 10 minutes and drops you off on weststreet :D :D

I may have missed a previous thread but is Brannigans at Centertainment permanently closed. I knew the owners were in some financial trouble and the place had become really garbage but I never heard anything!! (might have been on holiday)

Hope it has closed, it was in the wrong place! should have been in the town centre..maybe they will look at putting one there in their future.

From what I remember in the very early days it was not that bad going for a slightly older age group.

However you are correct in recent years it was complete GARBAGE.

I thought all of them had shut down - the entire chain?

There used to be four clubs out there (Brannigans, Pulse, Vogue and wow) but they have droped like flys it was too far out alright when you had a choice but nobody is going to go all that way just for brannigans

I went to Brannigans just the once, about 4 years ago perhaps. Personally i thought that it made Roxy's seem classy...:D

I had a drink next door in Old Orleans just after Brannigans shut down. An ex staff member was in there and he said it shut down with no notice. Apparently the owners were in massive finacial problems and took what they could and ran off. I feel pretty sorry for them - you'd have to be pretty desperate to do that.

Is the old Club Wow still empty? I wonder what the plans are for this space?
