Not really important but does anyone know how to get the license name etc etc on the little window that appears when you are starting MSOE.....I had it on before but then had to re-install after a full format and now don't get it anymore..?

Sorry, what's OE? Office Excel or Outlook Express or what?

If OE is Outlook Express then it doesn't actually display any license information - certainly not on any installation I've seen on 98 or ME. It just puts up a message saying 'This software is licensed'.

If it's anything else, have you tried looking in the 'About' option? Of course, you wouldn't be trying to get at this information to install dodgy copies of software elsewhere, would you?

'cos if you are...that's naughty and against Forum policy!

No, no...I think everyone has got me completely wrong here (My fault, sorry)....I mean the little square box that comes up on your screen as excel, word, powerpoint etc are loading up....and in the box it says MS word etc....like Outlook express has a blue box but MS office has a white one...d'ya know what I mean now...?

Cheers guys

Hi BobDaBuilder,

Yup....I know what you mean now.

Did you try the 'About' option on the Help menu? I've certainly seen the license information show up there before.

I have no idea as to why it's not there at start up....

Have to admit that I rarely notice such things! :)

Have you installed a new Service Pack or something similar?

No nothing new @ all....just bog standard XP pro corporate edition SP2....and bog standard Microsoft office 2003....

It even appears on office 98 which is a lot crapper and cheaper so I becoming a little dissapointed...:D

Not a daft question really and tbh i'm not really bothered whether it's there or not...?

Just thought i'd ask and see if anyone knows, no dissapointment if not...

I think that displaying that information there makes the software load slightly slower, so MO2003 is designed to start up without this information displayed.

I'd put it down to an MS thing. On numerous occasions I've had identical machines side by side simultaneously installing Windows using exactly the same options all the way through and at the end I've ended up with two completely differently behaving systems.

In short, it's completely random usually!
