I have just had this sent by a friend of mine in Wickersley!

There have been 3 sightings of 2 suspicious men with eastern european accents photographing local horses, this could be a steal to order gang. They have been seen at shows, events and even a horse owners field, they have been seen in white van reg.. *** (pm for this) and a red landcruiser police are teating this as suspicious please contact them if you have any info or suspect anything!

from what i gather on the orse and hound forum these men have been arressted in every county so im not sure if its a case of somene sendin it to one then it goes roun and round cos according to them they were arrested in cornwall and derby in same day lol!

well just heard 2 have been stolen in manchester im wondering if its anything to do with appleby horse fair in june? (horses stole to order)

i spoke to a girl on my cousins livery yard yeasterday about this and her fsrrier says the men have been arrested in castleton last week

9 coloured cobs stolen from Cannock the other day and 5 the day before in Lichfield. A Red Land cruiser, white van and blue VW are vehicles used. Please pass on.

That statement is definately true

The Horsewatch is run by the Police - and they distribute out to as many interested people when there are nutters on the loose, or horse theft in the area.

The horse theft is huge at the moment, and the coloured horses were all stolen in the one night.

Take extra care - these people are on the rounds and are not just after coloured horses. They are after easy targets. I hope they rott in hell.

This is horrible, I hope they rott in hell too, will spread the word in my area.

I thought they had been caught? Before this theft, if it is the same people. Why are they stealing them? Surely with the passport thing in place it is a lot harder to sell them on anywhere.

There has been some more thefts of coloured cobs in Epworth ( Nr Doncaster) today too.

Well I am going to tighten up security as much a possible anyway just in case but this has made me feel a little more at ease.

Please be careful with information that is heard from a friend of a friend. It's really easy for these things to become alarmist and to get blown out of all proportion.

Whilst we appreciate that horse owners are all going to be worried about this and there are good reasons to increase security, please don't repeat information and rumour which does not come from verified sources.

there have been many rumours sightings etc most of which i can confirm are untrue or have been exagerated
the white van numberplate which keeps being circulated as seen is actually mine and has already been cleared of all involvement it now sems that whenever a white van is sighted people quote this number plate i have had to contact numerous police forces and the same thing is usually the result either its a hoax or as one which appeared on horse and hound quoted a incident number and said definately this numberplate i was told yes the incident did occur but no numberplates were taken
as it has reached hysteria at some points the police and horse and hounds have now asked that please people only report on websites reports confirmed by police (not heard second hand ) as the one with the incident number when reposted the o/p said sorry they had heard it from someone which seems to be the underlying problem
