To all you hockey lovers out there, I would like to have a little moan.


It just dissapoints me that it is not a well known sport, because there is no fan basis!!!!

I would like to make some of the matches that take place over the summer known on the forum, and try to boost peoples interests.

So to any hockey players out there, playing in the badgers league, or the summer league, tel people when they are and where.

Its a great social mix and there is always a good pint of beer at the end of it!

Pint of Beer.... more like litre if you have anything to do with it! lol.

I love hockey.... well did... too old to play now but its a great game and can get really tricky on serious games.

I reckon that Kaybee is a light weight on the drinking front (and so she should be too !) would never drink to excess myself of course

I played hockey, and it is defiantly as violent as ice hockey, and without the need to wear suits of armour...

Can't say I have... I have a friend who plays hockey in the ladies league and she's got a temper, would be interesting to see her fighting :hihi:

the only reason that you make nasty comments like that is probably cos you just don't understand or you are trying to make yourself into something that you definatly aren't!

actually MissFeathers perhaps you should take a chill pill and take the posts for the fun with which they are meant.

Firstly I don't need to make myself into 'anything I am not' some of us do not need an ego trip
secondly when I was at school, I did actually play hockey for the school team and the matches that the girls teams decided to arrange between the male and female teams were possibly the most violent encounters (perhaps it was cos they couldn't run as fast..who knows) but I do recall finishing matches with far more bruises than those played against male teams.

Or are you suggesting that my comment about Kayb spending too much time in front of the mirror was unfair ? Perhaps it was..after all how would I know

Just because Hockey is classed as a mans game doesn't mean that women aren't any good.
i have seen better female matches than mens as women know that it is just a game and know how to enjoy!

What you said about Twinkla was definatly uncalled for and next time i think that you should just keep your opinions to yourself. You don't even know her.

i do know that the posts are supposed to be funny but when people like you take it to a personal level i think that is when you should think before you type!!!

Hockey is a universal sport regardless of sex, the post about the violence on the field was meant in the age old context of men versus women..maybe you and I should play on opposing teams some day?

Well, I saw me first game today from the sidelines (ok the car park in a warm car)

Never seen it before but will defo go again.

The funniest part was when one of the players fell on the goalies face.

Hockey's not just about fistfights - and they're not as common as some people think - but I know females who have played hockey as well as men.

Though I doubt anyone's gonna pick a fight with Dion Darling :D

Everyone is welcome! it is at Abbydale rugbyclub is Sheffield!
Its always a good laugh and there is a very good bar and BBQ on site too!

Tuesday, May 10th, push back 8.30
Thursday, may 19th, push back 8.30
Saturday, may 21st, push back 3'Oclock.

All these matches are held at Abbeydale Sports Club on abbeydale road, n me n miss Feathers will be there boasting out bright yellow shirts n sox!

May I say at this particular juncture that TwinklaKayB had just played a MIXED hockey match and was describing the techniques some male players have of nipping the ball through the gap in the opposing players errr...feet/legs.

We did laugh soon after she had come out with the phrase as, taken out of context, it does sound rather lewd. She will be mortified when she knows her 'friend' JBlaze has broadcast this rather unfortunate verbal error *tuts at JB*.

Drat. Wrong thread. I thought this might be about the late Trevor Hockey......one of the most "physical" footballers I've ever seen. I remember a game at Bramall Lane were Hockey and Billy Bremner kept up a marvellous running battle for the full 90 minutes without either really touching the ball. In those days the ref just let them get on with it...........
