Didn't think he would last long. I think he needs to go off somewhere and find a personality.

He needs a much more grateful club than Chelsea. Stalin invented the "shot in the back of the neck" and Abramovitch perfected it.

To be fair he never had the CV or experience to manage a club of that (financial) stature. Let's not forget it is the most expensive football team/squad ever assembled (which when you consider the players of Barcelona, Real Madrid, AC Milan, Manchester United, etc of recent years this fact is rather perplexing!). He got the job through friendship rather than credence so he had to deliver or it was game over.

The funny thing about Chelsea is that they are constantly linked with world class players but have so far only signed two widely recognised stars (Shevchenko and Ballack) and neither lived up to the expectation. If you were one of the richest men in the world and took over a club with the intention of signing the best 11 players in the world at all costs (having already spent hundreds of millions of pounds!) you would probably draw up a list that included some/all of: Kaka, Zanetti, Nesta, Puyol, Eto’o, Ronaldinho, Villa, (Cristiano) Ronaldo, Messi, Ramos, Alves, Buffon, Gerrard, Pirlo, etc. I think even the most ardent Chelsea fan would look at that list of players and think only a couple (at best) of the current squad would survive in a squad including those players.

To sign players of this calibre they need a big name, well respected, medal winning manager. The kind of manager who will avoid signing Scott Parker/Shaun Wright Phillips/Glen Johnson/Veron/Kezman/Mutu/Etc (I know Grant didn't sign these players; my point is that none of the previous managers have delivered the type of players you would expect for the outlay).

A small part of me hopes the Harlem Globetrotters football experiment is doomed to failure and they never find the right man. But then equally a conflicting part of me acknowledges that any competition to the dominating (glory supported) Liverpool/Manchester United old boys club is a good thing.

I have strong conflicting feelings over this. The inside talk coming out of Stamford Bridge was that Chelsea achieved what they have this season inspite of Grant rather than with the help of Grant. There was talk of Steve Clark and John Terry having going around to keep things organised.

Also another rumour inside Stamford Bridge was that Grant was instrumental to Mourinho getting sacked. Grant had the ear of Abramovich and kept on criticising Mourinho's team selections and tactics to Abramovich along with how he could sort out all of Chelsea's early seasons problems.

But, Grant always did seem an honourable man in public and did seem to act with respect; he presented a far more respectable image of Chelsea so I feel he should have been treated with more respect. His team did achieve also achieve a lot this season and were only a couple of results from having a historic season, but would have a top class manager achieved those results?

Chelsea's next appointment is their most important as the club needs stability.

That would be a brave appointment by Abramovich as Hiddink is a popular manager in Russia, so the political leadership in Russia might not look favourably to Abramovich poaching him.

Hes already paying Hiddinks wages as Russian Manager so cant see Russian F.A having too many complaints if/when he takes him to Chelski

It's not the Russian FA who Abramovich has to be afraid of. It's his 'best friend', ex president, current prime minister and future presidential candidate that he is afraid of upsetting; and he might not look at it kindly if Abramovich poaches Russia's manager.

Can't wait that long as transfers and contracts need to be sorted long before Euros are finished.
Wouldn't be surprised if "The Special One" was re- appointed. ;)
