Hi, could I ask everyone what brand/type of raw hide bone lasts their dogs the longest? I currently have 3 dogs and they love nothing better than a good chew, but It's really hard to find a bone that will last more than half an hour or so. The best bones that we have found so far are the raw hide cigars, but even they don't last that long.
Also because of the amount that we get through we are interested to find out about buying them in bulk. Does anybody do this at the moment and if so where from?
Also where do you think has the best value bones? We usually get them from a pet shop aroung the corner from us, but over the last year they have become more expensive, they were 5 for £1, then 4 for £1 and now they are 3 for £1. Thankyou for reading and any ideas/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried the really huge ones? They're a 3" long cigar shape and last weeks!

You can buy them from job lot cash and carry. I am not a big fan of these unless they are guaranteed to be cow hide (the ones made in asia are often made from domestic animals, which are widely consumed in many countries). Make sure the ones you buy are cowhide, you will find that these are obviously more expensive.
There was a massive uproar about this a few years ago. Made in China or Thialand treat with some suspicion. I will try and find out more info for you.

Molly likes the really huge pressed hide rings- they're expensive (£11.99 for 5 from Jollyes) but she can chew for several hours before making a gap in the ring and she puts her front paws through the ring to brace against it and pull on it.
She also likes the ones that are plaited then made into rings and flavoured (she likes the mint, bacon and lamb ones, but isn't too keen on the peanut butter ones) but they aren't as widely available- I get them from West St Pets.

Thanks for that everyone. Our pet shop used to have the plaited flavoured rings that meduse mentioned, but there hasn't been any in for a while. I thought that they may have stopped making them but obviously not. And they certainatley were good value for money! Any more ideas/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thankyou

I've just started getting Chewdles shin bones for my 2 after this thread reminded me.
They're 100% beefhide which I double checked on Gemima's advice. The one I get is 18" long and a rolled cigar shape and about 4" diameter but they do a 24" one too. I haven't see them in any shops but that's mainly because I don't tend to go in any. I have them on my stall for £6 so they'll surely be around that in the shops.
Have you found any alternatives yet? If you didn't want something so big the pressed rawhide rings do last too.

The raw hide rings lasted longer than some, but still not that long! I have been thinking about buying raw hide pallets in actually, as with having 3 very strong chewers we do get through quite a lot! Where abouts is your stall Helly?

Unfortunatley it's on Doncaster Market so not visited too often by Sheffield folk. However, if you want something specific rther than just a browse, I do delivery in Sheffield for orders over £5.
