I don't understand why the BBC "Beeps" out swear words sometimes rather than "Beep" it out either all of the time or not at all.

Is there a need to "Beep" out swear words on TV after 9pm?

I don't know for definate but sometimes it's the programme makers choice, not all programmes are made by the BBC, sometimes they just commision(sp) them.

Difficult question to answer. The 'watershed' was introduced a long time ago in the hope that parents would know that programmes shown after this time were not always suitable for children; many contain sex / violence / swearing. However, with the introduction of Sky+, TiVo and other 'time-shifting' devices out there, does it matter what time a programme is shown? Surely kids can get access to these shows if left unattended, if their parents choose to watch them.

I think the onus is on the parents to protect their own kids. It's so easy to parents to blame others for what their kids learn these days.

Before anyone points out that I'm not a parent, I'll do so myself! :D I just remember being sent to bed early when The Young Ones was on circa 1982. Oooh I did cry, but I guess my parents meant well! :D

And what's worse, a bleep or a poorly dubbed alternate word.

The classics being (both on ITV):

Lethal Weapon - "Melon Farmer"
Die Hard - "Yippee Kaye Aye Kimo Sabe"
