Kristian 04-04-2005, 21:19 Welcome to the SF Will!
Don't take offence, but is this a joke post, or are you really a unicyclist? :suspect: If it is a joke, then you get my award for most original introduction; if not, then I'm sure there will be somebody sensible along in a bit! :D
Welcome either way!

carcrash 05-04-2005, 06:56 I have got a unicycle but I've not used it for years
Sandra Spice 05-04-2005, 08:13 Try David Panther on 0114 2672410. He does off road unicycling.
SilentStatic 05-04-2005, 08:25 You just missed a juggling convention organised by the Flying Teapots where there were twenty or so unicyclists to meet! I'm fairly sure there's a unicycle specific convention coming up somewhere very soon.
Try e-mailing them to see if they can give you some info Teapots@sheffield.ac.uk
nope this is not a joke lol

Kristian 05-04-2005, 11:06 Sorry Will, I didn't know unicycling was that popular! Who said you don't learn something every day! ;)
I have some ability just not the machine. I'd need to get some serious practice in before going off road tho. Unicycles are surprisingly expensive. I did think of making my own but worked out id need a welding kit. I also gave some significant thought to the design of geared unicycles. Came up with a few completely laborious designs where you probably woul dhave to stop to change gear.
Where do you go unicycling at the mo? Theres a guy been trundling round on one for years. I think he lives somewhere up in crooks.
Tim
yeh gears cud be good but mite make balancing a bit dificult...
i mainly am round ecclesall ..i sometimes just use it instead of a bike cos its suprisingly fast wen you get going lol
does anyone know of a group that meet at like a fixed day or anything??

Sandra Spice 05-04-2005, 22:25 No david's not at all scarey. He teaches poi & does off road uniclycling (but not at the same time I reckon!!)

and here I am now!
In answer to the original poster, willytr, I have a unicycle, but it's not been used since someone nicked the front wheel.:(
Use to almost have shares in a wheel company. I was always wrecking it as I went up and down flights of stairs (in control..not going face first I must stress), but it was good practice for the more serious business of off road motorcycling.
Anyone ever ridden over a car on a unicycle ? yours truly has (okay 20 years ago) and the roof is rather bouncy !
lol nice one yammy!
ok then ill give david a ring sometime once ive sorted some other stuff out..

entozoon 16-10-2005, 01:19 Hello, me and my brother are unicyclists in Sheffield, we have 20" nimbus and are interested in all aspects of unicycling - particularly trials and perhaps in the future, muni.
If anyone knows about anything happening in sheffield, please email me at entozoon@gmail.com
Id love to meet up informally with a bunch of unicyclists and go somewhere as a group, that'd be incredible.
maybe we could even start a unicycle hockey team, that'd be incredible.
thanks, Mike.
luko76ers 17-10-2005, 11:59 I Cant unicycle but i have a unicorn! any good?
lizzyboo 19-10-2005, 14:46 Dave Panther can be found with the Flying Teapots on monday nights. Check out their website at shef.ac.uk/~ftc.
ToastbrotJoe 03-02-2010, 06:55 I can. I'm going unicycling in Endcliff Parc daily and love playing unicycling Hockey (I learned it with my German unicycle group) But I don't think they've got that here, do they?
Not knowing a single thing about them (but would like to learn a bit more) are they all single speed fixies or do you have gears and locking freewheels and other stuff

There is unicycle hockey in sheffield, they're on 'Yahoo groups' as 'Sheffield Unicycle Hockey'.
The last email I got from them gave details as-
Unicycle Hockey Practice
Thursday 28 January 2010
17:30 - 18:45
(This event repeats every week.)
Location: Springfield School Community Sports Pitch
Street: Springfield Primary School, Broomspring Lane
City County Postcode: Sheffield
I know they're looking for new players
onewheeldave 03-02-2010, 11:17 Not knowing a single thing about them (but would like to learn a bit more) are they all single speed fixies or do you have gears and locking freewheels and other stuff
The majority are sungle speed fixies, with the 'gear' being determined by the wheel size and crank length i.e. bigger wheel=faster and better for distance and short cranks also giving higher speed (but less control).
I ride a '29-er' which is the road bike size wheel (700c) with a big fat tyre.
There are geared unicycles, mainly used by distance unicyclists- personally I prefer the simplicity of the ungeared unicycle: here's a link to the geared hub-

Notorious1 03-02-2010, 15:05 It's a very interesting hobby, riding a bicycle is tough enough let alone a unicycle.
Good luck with that mate.
my boyfriend bought me a unicycle for christmas last year.....talk about original prezzie :)
damn thing scares me tho but i'd love to be able to ride it
