I was appalled last night at his reaction to losing.

We try to teach our children about being a good sport, it's the taking part not the winning that counts. And there he is bawling away for all to see.

Now I like to see a man cry. Most of the time I like to be the cause of it. But it seems that in sport we ought to be able to hide our emotions a little better.

I mean if the lasses on "I'd do anything...." can have that necklace ripped off and still sing a belter of a song, surely the Captain of England can wait until the dressing room to whip out his hankie!

Actually he wasn't crying because of the missed penalty at all. The rumour is he'd just received a message from Avram Grant that 1980s pop sensations Kajagoogoo were reforming and it all got too much for the poor lad.

He's nothing but a prima donna, much like his team mate cashley cole etc.
