I am going on holiday at the end of June and I need to put my cats in a cattery. I have two boys who are 10 and 9 and have never been in a cattery before and I suspect they won't be happy. Can anyone recommend a good cattery in the area that will pamper my spoilt moggies? I have read a very old post that said that cats are lost (or escape) from catteries and I'm a bit apprehensive about letting them leave my house!

have you considered having someone come to your home and feed/look after your cats, quite a lot of companies/people do this

I am a little apprenhensive about letting a stranger into my home whilst I'm away. Also they'd never see my younger cat as he'd be hiding from them, he's quite timid and shy of strangers.

I use Cloughfields Cattery in Cross Pool. They are very good. You might struggle to get in a reputable cattery, they do get booked up very quickly. I've also used Camerons Cat Lodge, they're in Deepcar and also really good. I'd recommend visiting a few and chatting to the owners.

we tried bockling close/lane cattery and they over charged us last time so this time we are trying the new one on whitely woods road near forge dam. Our cat wont be going there until october i think?! but it looked really nice and the people were very nice too! we have previously tried one at loxley, and it was really good just a little too far for us to go. (the cats get a lovely view over the fields!) hehe

I looked at Cloughfields website and it was very swish. In the end (and at the reccommendation of a nurse at my vets) I have booked at Hickingwood in Clowne. It looked lovely on the website and the owners put all my fears to rest. They have the food that my cats like too and outdoor runs which is a bonus.

We also offer this service and like Teeny are CRB checked and have references and full insurance. We are currently looking after a house with 15 champion showcats in, and have loked after several households with very nervous cats including one that needed regular insulin injections. We also have 24 hour veterinary cover.

Click on our link if you would like to see some pictures and references etc
