Is anyone going to Climax this Friday 8th of April?

I'm not sure if I'm going yet - depends on who I can drag along with me :D

Right, is it just me, or are gay nights in Sheffield just cheesy?

I'm not gay myself but I've been to quite a few nights that are promoted as "gay nights" purely because the music is good. There used to be a few in Sheffield that were kinda aimed at specific musical tastes, but man, what's happened?

Look at other cities like Manchester, Bristol, Newcastle etc and you see credible gay nights.

But look at Sheffield now and anything relating to gay nights are the musical equivalent of the disco in the school hall when you were 12. The music is just lowest common denominater drivel.

I know gay people in Sheffield who find this frustrating...anyone else think this?

Completely agree with you boyo. Cant stand that cheesyness at all. Why are there no gay drum and bass nights?!

Totally agree.

The only reason people go to nights like climax are because they are gay which causes the organisors not to have to put any effort in. Gay club music in sheffield is abosolute ****!

I've had a break from it for a few months as I'd got a bit sick and tired of it.

Might go again on Friday though, if I aint too drunk :)

I only used to go to Climax when I was single to "pull", you hardly go for atmosphere or music. Now I have a boyfriend (who I met in a "straight" pub) and neither of us want to spend all night listening to Kylie and cheesy disco, so we don't go.

I go to Climax occasionally, purely because it's nice to be in an LGB space, and every single time I go I think - why am I here again? It's ****E!!!

I'm hoping the VIP bar is filling that glaring niche in the market - a classy LGB bar. From the threads I've read here it sounds promising. . . ??

Having said all this, I work for an LGB project in Chesterfield, and OMG, if you've experienced the scene there, then Climax is the height of tasteful luxury . . . :hihi:

well i broke my wrist and was rushed to A & E in an ambulance with internal bleeding....classy!

Do gay people actually still go to Climax anyway, I thought it was a mostly straight night now.

i was up for going a few of my mates are going but I got a gig on the saturday and im working all saturday so not a good idea! defo pretty ****e compared to the gay nights ive been to in manchester, london etc. shame really.

i shall be going as well natalie tried texing you and kirk but my phone was having non of it

He's set of for yours armed with a size twelve loafer, (his best friend, but so far unnamed) and a coat hanger (they have a very close working relationship!)

I'll keep my fingers crossed for your safe keeping. I was so ashamed when that pair of culottes had to enter the witness protection program last year! :blush:
