How about cod liver oil in his/her food? pets@home 21-05-2008, 06:37 PM have you tried green lipped muscle extract ? djelibeybi 21-05-2008, 07:55 PM My parents give their GSD one 1000mg capsule of Omega 3 (fish oil) and one 1,500mg tablet of Glucosamine Sulphate in her meal each day. They've helped her creaking joints no end! Apparently the combination is supposed to be very effective. My mum told her sister in America, who in turn discussed it as an option for her dog with her vet. The vet thought it was a brilliant idea, and now half the patients at the vet surgery in Virginia Beach are taking Omega 3 and Glucosamine Sulphate! Always check with the vet before giving it to your dog, just to ensure it's not going to aggravate any existing conditions or clash with existing meds. ASPGuru 21-05-2008, 09:36 PM have you tried green lipped muscle extract ? We used that on our arthritic Golden Retriever - worked a treat. She stank to high heaven though! Like having a pet kipper. hels1977 21-05-2008, 10:25 PM I would avoid putting any medication in the dogs water (or any animals water), simply because if they don't like the taste for whatever reason (and some taste truley foul) then they may get dehydrated as they won't drink as much as they should. I've used this before for elderly ratties with dodgy joints and it's perked them up no end - given that it's actually a doggy product you may well get some good results with it! http://vetuk.co.uk/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=1373 Does taste a bit grim but wrapped in yummy food I doubt it will be detected! loopylass 22-05-2008, 02:17 PM Thanks for all your suggestions. Will look into them all. Cheers :D Peacock Lady 23-05-2008, 11:04 AM Try looking at www.zipvit.com, they have glucosamine/chondriatin (sp?) powder especially for pets, and it's far cheaper than the Synoquin that my vets sell.
