Never been but thinking of taking the missus for a meal... I've read some mixed reviews - some say its fantastic, others are really dissapointed about the place. and the menu seems quite expensive, but i know it won Sheffield Restaurant of the year back in 2005!!!

has anyone been? if so what was it like? worth the money? atmosphere, food etc etc?

all views welcome.

We went with friends, and were impressed. We had the chateau-briand(sp?) and it was fab. It was busy the night we were there, but we didn't feel either rushed or ignored, neither did we feel as if it was over full and crowded, even though every table had someone at it. Your right it isn't cheap. it cost us about £130 for the 4 of us, but we drink like fishes and eat like pigs and none of us felt hard done by.

Went at the weekend £550 for 12 of us , including expensive wine.

Go midweek special offer prices and it's the same menu.

Six of us went one night last year - the service was dreadful and the food mediocre

Four of us went about a month ago and had a really good meal. My starter (scallops) was a bit small and not hot enough but the rest of the dishes were really good. It's a good atmosphere, a proper restaurant not just a terraced shop with a few tables in. Also they give you round tables a lot of the time which is so much better for conversation to flow.

Had a look on their website (http://www.blueroombrasserie.co.uk/menus.php) and it looks as if their midweek menu is different to their A La Carte. Is the website out of date?

It used to be a limited selection of the main menu. I've not been for a few months though...

As he says. The food choice is however exactly the same as the a la carte for the selection offered. So you're not getting inferior food or inferior menu's. IMHO anyway

Based on my visit last week , that menu's not current.

Visited last Saturday night, very nice place, food was all great and the bill wasnt as much as i was expecting. We both had starters, main and dessert, 2 bottles of wine accompanied by 4 pints of carling :hihi:, £110 all in.

Totally agree with Jane123, the staff don't advise you very well on what would go well with what, and unless you "ooooze money" they tend to ignore you . Steer clear unless you want to waste lots of cash.

dont agree with this at all after visiting last Saturday, all the staff were polite, well dressed and attended to us very well.

It's not a waste of cash at all!!!, the food was quality and not that expensive really, considering you can go to somewhere like Damons and get warmed up frozen food cooked by teens and it doesnt cost that much less!!!.

9.5/10 from me.:)

Went last night. Lovely service, none of this in-your-face 'how are you enjoyng your meal?' rubbish, as if that would make up for not attending to you for the next hour or so.

Decent food, not bad but wasn't bowled over, and very reasonably priced - under £30 a head incl wine.

I was surprised at how empty it was, maybe 10 covers.

7/10 from the Tricky jury.

Went last year for a joint 30th/40th birthday. Food ok to good, but I've had better.
Service was farcically bad. Think we had the YTS wine waiter. Highlights included him taking the bottle out of my friend's hand twice as he was going to top up the wine glasses that were empty and had been for 10 minutes. If it's a "top yourself up" place fine, and if it's a "we top you up" place, then again, fine, but in which case, get it sorted out. There was also some confusion over something (can't remember what) but it was on the menu and he ended up telling it didn't exist.
For something that was supposed to be good, it wasn't.

Took Mrs Dirtydog out for a meal there. £90 including 4 (largish) glasses of wine (would've been cheaper to buy the bottle) for some very tasty food and unfaultable service. I like it and will go again (might even take the Mrs with me) - not a great choice for veggies though IMHO. Don't bother going if you have to eat to the point of stomach bursting before you feel you've had your moneys worth, you'll be dissapointed with the portion sizes.

Bit of a late reply to this one but think The Blue Room deserves another mention!

My boyf took me there last week for our anniversary (ahh....!) - perfect night!
Food was delicious, wine was good, atmosphere was great - cant fault it!
As for cost... well it is more then average I guess but I didnt pay so cant complain!
