jellybellybean 20-05-2008, 09:15 PM I always thought that cats didn't like water, however Ruby seems to have taken a shine to it!
She loves chasing the water from the hose when we're watering the garden, we've just bought a sprinker system too and she spent ages happily getting drenched with it the other day!
Not only this, she tries to climb in the bath with me and likes sitting in the wet sink! :loopy:
Is my little girl just crazy or do other peoples cats like water too?
Helly 20-05-2008, 09:20 PM My kitten hates water, even if shes just spilt a bit of water on her mat she won't go near it incase she gets her paws wet. However, she doesn't mind when the dogs mouth at her ears and soak them and she'll even permit our Caspy to carry her in his mush which gets her soggy too...
My mate whos mum was featured on come dine with me :hihi: had a few persian cats one which loved to get in the fish pond for a swim!
f1freak 20-05-2008, 09:33 PM My mogster wont leave me alone when im in the bath, i cant believe in 2 yrs he hasnt managed to fall in yet!!
Just slightly off topic for a mo ...does anybodys cat chase their tail round n around ??? Cos mog does it all the time and i thought it was a dog thing?!
wondertec 20-05-2008, 09:35 PM My cats run a mile when i get the hose pipe out, tho my lil boy does like to sit on the edge of the sink and watch the tap drip!! he will sit there for hours if you let him...

Yep, Ruby does this too, she'l do it for ages, she has me in stitches laughing at her, she's so funny!
P.S my mum's cat's called Mog too, what a good name for a puddy cat! :P
our cat loves having a bath. she'll pester my mum when shes in the bath and then run to the shower plug hole when the water has been released from the bath plug (it gurgles)! she also loves sitting in the empty bath waiting for the tap to drip or for me to turn it quickly on/off! There always seems to be mucky footprints in the washbasin too! little horror especially when you have just cleaned it! She has started inviting her bf in now (the next door neighbours one eyed cat)! who doesnt share the same love for water as she does!
keely 21-05-2008, 01:50 AM emilys very curious about water, she almost always follows me into the bathroom, and watches the water. She sometimes climbs around the edge of the bath while im in there too (she climbs in there too when its just been drained, or when she feels like messing around) she likes the sink too
and mrs also chases her tail, and lately shes started making a chirruping sound like a bird :)
medusa 21-05-2008, 01:57 AM One of my friends had a cat who used to get in the bath with her. We also have had many adults and kittens at the Shelter who either play with the water in their bowls or splash through it, sit in it or otherwise manage to get soggy with it.
It's quite normal to play with moving water- lots of cats or kittens like to play with a dribbling tap and many of them will learn how to turn the tap on either for a drink or to play with it.
Moonbird 21-05-2008, 02:14 AM One of my cats loves water too, she is always in the bathroom when I'm in, she loves walking on the edge of the bath and poking a paw into the water, she has fell in on several occasions (which she doesn't seem to enjoy quite so much :hihi: ) she loves jumping in the sink or bath when you pull the plug out.
Col2k5 21-05-2008, 02:18 AM When i was younger my mum got a jack russell we called her snoopy ... and she used to love jumping in the bath at night when we were all in bed and lick around the plug hole for a drink ... Only one night someone had left the water in and we all heard a mighty SPLASH ... she was wet through ... but it never stopped her ... :hihi:

djelibeybi 21-05-2008, 02:38 AM My best mate had a cat (I can't remember which one it was now!) who would join her for a bath.
She'd always shut him out of the bathroom, but as it had a sliding door with no lock, the bugger always managed to get inside. He'd then walk over her as she relaxed in the bath, and lay down on her chest, with his rear end UNDER the water, and his paws either side of her neck on her shoulders.
She didn't really mind, except that she'd get out of the bath hairier than when she went in!!!! :hihi:
katkin 22-05-2008, 01:03 PM our bengals and wegies love water- Solo, the baby wegie who comes to stay occasionally (Arnie's bro) has a thing for drinking mucky dishwater too - accidentally slipped in the sink the other week and skittered across the work surfaces pdq. Obviously didn't upset him too much as shortly afterwards, he snook back in the kitchen and fished a weetabix out of his (human) mum's breakfast bowl...

Each time you relate the antics of your menagerie.....your wording and phrases has me in fits!!!!
Thanks for giving me the best chuckle I've had in a long time xxx
SallyLaLaLa 25-05-2008, 12:35 AM My kitten is constantly sitting in the sink and as a result usually ends up wandering round being a tad soggy most of the time. She's trying to hunt the drips.
BTW Katkin I love your blog, it never fails to rais a smile.
medusa 25-05-2008, 12:58 AM It turns out that one of my litter of foster babies has a growing love of water- Anna's new mummy is likely to be a little surprised at finding her paddling in her water bowl I suspect.
Last night I heard what I thought was Molly drinking from her huge water bowl in the living room, except I knew that Molly had already gone upstairs to bed. I put my head round into the living room and there was Anna, having a little dance in the water bowl up to her little armpits in water.
