Has anyone else noticed how unreliable the blue bin collection is becoming?

In the last three collections they have only turned up on the day they said once. On one occasion they arrived a day late and now they haven’t arrived at all.

How much of my council tax should I with hold for this shoddy service :D

Sorry cant agree with you there. They always turn up for all three bins when stated on the council website.

You should call them on 273 4567 (option 1) to get them to collect after missing you.

If you fail to be satisfied, email a complaint to sheffieldenquiries@veolia.co.uk
and make sure you also send copies to one of your local Councillors and john.mothersole@sheffield.gov.uk

Never had any problems all the years I was in Crookes; nor any since I moved to the new house 2 months ago.

It's been totally unreliable here and I think you'll find there was at least one other thread about precisely this topic. I get the feeling that it's a lip service service only.

Not in the bottom 10 according to this;

And I can just imagine the outcry from half the forum if they had to do any more sorting of the rubbish than they have to do already.

I have to disagree. If it means not having to trail to glass banks.

The bin service is absolutely rubbish in my experience.

Unreliable, unpleasant, and their complaints service is just as pointless.

I wish I were one of the lucky people who get good service. :(

Ours was a day late time before last otherwise a good service.

My bin wasn't emptied this week.

And my sticker which shows me the collection dates was ripped off the bin.

I don't know if that was kids or if it means my blue bin isn't going to be collected anymore.

But if it is going to be collected I don't know the dates now.

My collection date sticker was removed sometime last year too, so I looked at all my neighbours' blue bins and none of them had a sticker either! I used my diary to mark every 4th Friday (a week later at Christmas) which worked well until February. Since Feb I've put my bin out on Fridays but it hasn't been collected until one or two working days later - this was a problem when it was very windy as I got the contents of everyone's bins blowing around outside my house.

.... and if that is too difficult, a simple phone call to 273 4567 will get you a new sticker!

Hmm,

Black Bin weekly call helpline
Blue Bin every 4 weeks call helpline

Hardly helpful.

update to my post, ours was collected 2 days late this time, most people had put their bins away by then, so maybe this is the policy to try and collect less.

Write to the new Leader of the Council as recycling is one of their priorities.

My suggestion is that you get a fire pit and use the content of your blue bin as fuel.

Mine disappeared a few weeks ago - just noticed it has been replaced, and I didn't even have to ask.

Hmm. For my home postcode it was more helpful, offering a download link for a PDF of the bin sticker, but I've just tried my work postcode instead and all it gives me is "call helpline".

Perhaps because it's different for commercial premises?
