View Full Version : My Bulb Keeps Blowing kirky 04-04-2005, 07:06 its in the gas fire and the bulb is only lasting a couple of days, before it lasted months whats causing it? is it dangerous? owdlad 04-04-2005, 07:08 Try getting an electrician to check it out mate. rubydazzler 04-04-2005, 07:15 agree with owdlad, bulbs blowing frequently usually means there's something wrong either with your circuit or in this case, the appliance ... either that or buy better bulbs :) JoeP 04-04-2005, 07:19 Definitely indicates a problem. Make sure the bulbs you're using are properly rated for the appliance, then get the fire checked out. Treat repeatedly blowing bulbs like repeatedly blowing fuses - something that is trying to tell you that all ain't well! Joe owdlad 04-04-2005, 07:24 Second thought, make sure the house insurance is paid up to date as well :P eeerr how far is it from Darnall fire station :P steevie/d 04-04-2005, 07:30 Hi ya kirky me owd muka we had a problem eith 1 of our bulbs ay the top of the landing it would blow for no apperent reason when it blew it fused the whole curcuit i cahad to call the yeb out to put new fuse wire in the fuse because i didnt have any he told me it was the type of bulb we were using it was the cheapo kind from pound land status make since getting a better quality bulbs weve not had the problem since p,s done you some musc will drop them off for you when ive got time mate  muddycoffee 04-04-2005, 07:39 Make sure the bulb isn't getting too hot, it is not rated too highly :- if it's supposed to be only 40w or 25w don't put a 100w in as it will get too hot and go fut. Also make sure that any ventelation holes in the appliance are clear. If the bulb is supposed to be a high temperature type like one one you might get inside an oven, don't put a normal one in. viking 04-04-2005, 09:24 I had this problem years ago. Sparky said "Change the bulb Holder", i did this and never had a problem since . Kristian 04-04-2005, 11:06 I had a similar problem with my hairdryer a few months ago. The shop wouldn't take it back, they said it was meant to do that! K x owdlad 04-04-2005, 11:15 Originally posted by Kristian I had a similar problem with my hairdryer a few months ago. K x Why did you have a bulb in your hair dryer, was it so you could still see if the electric went off ? :( Kristian 04-04-2005, 11:18 Originally posted by owdlad Why did you have a bulb in your hair dryer, was it so you could still see if the electric went off ? :( Yeah, the manufacturers found candles were worse than useless! :D K x ROBERT 08-04-2005, 23:27 Cheap bulb, wrong type of bulb or worn bulb holder Try cleaning the terminals and checking they are tight |
