My "date" got drinks, a good seat and me (well two outta three aint bad).

First.... I'd like you to post a review of the evening. it sounds like something I would have enjoyed (had I entered the comp  ).

Tribute bands are great, so long as they are done in such a way that it doen't scar ou memory of the real band, and that they czn actually do the business.

what gets me is tribute bands that ply their wares whilst they band they are paying tribute to are still on the circuit - e.g Oasis and No Way Sis.

The muffin men - best (And only) Zappa tribute band.

Review of Meat Loaf tribute concert starring Steve Steinman and some blonde woman (probably the wife) at Sheffield City Hall Friday 3rd October at 8 PM.

First ten minutes of the concert was a musical intro of various Meat Loaf songs from the ages such as Bat out of hell, I'd do anything for love, I'd lie for you (and that's the truth) and others.

Next there was a video sequence of the early years of Meat Loaf and his colloboration with Jim Steinman which lead to the release of the original Bat out of hell album, he then did a few numbers from that album such as 2 out of 3 ain't bad, you took the words right out of my mouth etc.

Next there was another video about Meat Loaf detailing his duets with several stars of rock music, such as Bonnie Tyler and Cher, leading into the blonde lady coming on stage doing a Cher song and then Bonny Tyler's "Total eclipse of the heart", then Cher came back for the classic "Dead ringer for love" with the video to the real Meat Loaf and Cher singing the tune in the background, don't get me wrong though Steve and the girl weren't just miming to the video, it was actually them singing through the whole of this part of the show.

Last song before the interval was Paradise by the Dashboard lights, which was very funny cos the girl was still singing after the end of the song, and Steve was going mad at her telling her to shut up etc.

After the quick 10 minute interval, there was some more musical intros, then he sang "I'd do anything for love (But I won't do that)" with the video to it in the background again, then a bit more video history of Meat Loaf, a few more songs, and then he sang "Bat out of hell" for an encore in which he had everyone on their feet dancing and singing along (even me).

Finally there was another video about Meat Loaf's starring role in movies such as "Rocky Horror Picture Show" from which we heard of a couple of songs, most notably the "Time Warp" which he had everybody doing the dance to.

Overall an excellent night well worth the money.

***** (5 Stars)

Bootleg Beatles are outstanding. I saw them at V2000, and it was just like watching the real thing.

The real meatloaf is at the arena next month and we will be there in one of the corporate boxes to see him.
