Sheffield United PLC. said it is in discussions with its chairman Kevin Mc Cabe who proposes to make a cash offer for the remaining shares.

McCabe owns about 75.17% of the company which proposes to underwrite an equity fundraising for the company.

Upon the offer being declared wholly unconditional, the board expects that Scarborough to delist the company from the AIM market and re-register it as a private company.

If the proposed deal goes ahead, McCabe also intends to breakup the company's property interests from the football club to ensure that the current commercial property market difficulties do not unnecessarily burden the club.
