Does anybody know what's going on at my local, the New Inn on Hollinsend Rd at Gleadless? Been going in there for 25 years, pub has always done very well & been busy until the last couple of months. Always nearly deserted now (even at 22:30 on Saturday!) and the formerly excellent beer's now really awful. I think it may have a new landlord who could be part of the problem? I don't think it's the smoking ban as that was nearly 12 months ago and didn't seem to affect trade here. Shame to see a good pub going downhill like this!

Cant really see what you mean here. I go frequantly and its always a nice place to be. The landladies a nice women and the landlords a decent bloke too.
They both seem approachable, have a word as im sure they wouldnt want to lose your custom.

Thanks "30andSexy" - but if this is the case then I still can't understand why this pub appears to have suddenly lost most of its customers. Many of the people who I've seen in there regularly for many, many years no longer go in. This was such a lively pub until very recently...

we went there when the new people moved in and there had been a review of the food in the star(or telegraph) and it was lovely. However we went fairly recently and the pub was not very busy but there were kids running around and being generally uruly and unsupervised which put us off, then the food was not half as nice as it was the first time. The landlady asked if everything was ok and we told her we were dissapointed (in a nice way) but she didnt seem bothered so its a case of we shant go there again. Also there was a whiffy smell about the place possibly the carpet, but this is a consequence of the smoke not masking smells anymore, but the place really could do with a proper overhaul and deep clean and then it could be a nice place.
