Hi, I'm from Italy then I'm sorry for my bad english.

I've 2 big sheffiel plates and I'd like to know their age.

The first is a rectangular decorated big plates and in the lower side it has this hallmarks (in order from left to right):
-two crossed keys
-five tips crown
-human profile shot in the left

The second is a rounded decorated big plates and in the lower side it has this hallmarks (in order from left to right):
-five tips crown
-shield with a stylized S
-shield with two diagonal, parallel and irregular lines inside, from low left angle to high right angle
-under those hallmarks says: "SILVER ON COPPER"

someone could help me???

sembra il primo un vassoio come questo (http://www.tias.com/12452/PictPage/1923031074.html)?
[the first sounds like a tray like this one?]

Sarebbe utile se tu potessi mettere alcune foto in internet (su un sito come http://photobucket.com/) e poi inserire qui un link.
[it would be useful if you could put some photos on the web (on a site like Photobucket) and post a link here]

Hugh

Hard to belive they think thats trays worth 459 pounds, they said it could be a gallery tray too. it's nothing like a gallery tray.

I have a book showing all British and Irish hallmarks from the 1300's, can find none similar to the ones on your tray. The crown is a mark for Sheffield, but none in the style shown, and there is no evidence of a maker using crossed keys as a trademark. Perhaps it's Sheffield Plate manufactured on the continent.

Sorry,

Looking further, the date mark 'S' on the second one could be 1910-11, although the shield is not shown in my book.

From your description of the Marks it looks like silver and not silver plate.
I found lots of info from www.925-1000.com
I have a spoon my wife bought at a charity shop and this web site told me everything about the spoon.
Or I should say people on this web site told me
