Oh deary me...

I've got to meet an A-level deadline in under 2 weeks for my Sociology coursework, and I was all set up to study members of a church, but then the vicar let me down at the last minute and I'm stuck! I can't research with no people to research! So If anyone fancies a short 20 minute interview to help me out and fits the below criteria, please PM me asap, you'll be saving my skin (and probably my grades)!

Participants must fit most of these criteria:

*Sees themselves as middle class
*Attends Protestant (any sect really) church services on a regular basis
*Lives in SHeffield (it would be helpful if you lived in the south or south west of SHeffield, but don't let this put you off - please contact me anyway!)
*Age 35-60 (some room for flexibility, however)

Thank you....I might give all participants chocolate as a bribe....

well what a truly good example of a vicar, to let you down when you were relying on his/her help! Let's hope the doctrine of "do as you would be done by" never comes back on him.

Can't you ask some other vicar? There's hundreds of churches .... surely one of them can help you out in this situation.

I can't help you as I'm not religious. I think people who believe are deluded - I'd have it all banned if it was up to me.

sorry in advance to all religious people ...

I'm nice, really!

You'll have probably already thought of this but just incase - has your college got a Christian Union ? Often staff members are members as well as students so should fit your age requirements.

Stand outside a church with a clipboard on a Sunday morning, in a posh part of town and collar people that look friendly as they leave.

You could try the new St. Thomas building at Philadelphia (in between Penistone Road and Infirmary Road). It's probably the biggest church close to the university, and it's Anglican and Baptist.

There's hundreds of people go there, so if you turn up and talk to one of the welcomers about your situation I'm sure that someone will be willing to assist.

Oh for goodness sake! What a pathetic thing to say. He may (or may not) have had reasons for having to back out. And for someone who makes the remarks you make below, quoting the above is pretty hypocrtical.

I can't help you as I'm not religious. I think people who believe are deluded - I'd have it all banned if it was up to me.

Why? Two pathetic things in one e-mail - well done. Are religious people doing you any harm? "I'd have them all banned" - how tolerant. Most of us are just living our lives quietly, trying to be good (and failing abysmally sometimes), being kind to others etc etc. It's not a bad way to live...

sorry in advance to all religious people

No need to apologise to me love, you're the sad one...

Interview some and make the rest up. They'll never check as long as it looks realistic. I remember doing one sociology questionnaire in the pub.....got an A as well....

Incidentally Rosie, I've pm'd you but your mailbox is full. I fit most of the criteria except for the area. There are plenty of lively churches here in Sheffield who could probably help you. People are forever stating that there are no religious people left and it's all a bit of a joke, but there are plenty of us - we just don't shout about it. And we let those of you who ridicule get on with it- perhaps we should be asking for you to be 'banned'!!!!!

Ditto
To irenewilde's post! (about your mailbox being full etc..not the confusing one before  )
But am in the area
Sort yourself out woman!!!! :) Empty your mailbox
The upside of this is that you are so busy completing your work because you already got your research participants
Good luck

The 'confusing' one is a result of me thinking this worked like e-mail in that the original e-mail would appear marked in some way with my replies to her comments underneath. It doesn't! It's supposed to be like a 2 way conversation but you can't tell which is her stuff and which is mine....ho hum.....

Just tried to edit it with asterisks to make it more obvious which are my bits and that didn't work either..... phooey!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank God it's not up to you then RD!

What a narrow minded viewpoint from someone who is supposedly so mature!

Hey, if the idea of a one to one interview was putting anyone off, I'm also fine to do an email questionnaire!

Rosie, I tried to send you a PM but your mailbox is full. I'm pretty sure I can help. Why don't you PM me with some alternate means of contact and I'll send you the message I was going to send... or whatever.
