I just watched Love Actually (again) last night with my son and we both agreed our fave bit is when Andrew Lincoln (mark) turns up at Kiera Knightly's door (juliet) armed with billboards and a tape recorder playing silentnight so he can confess his undying love for her even though she is married to his best friend and he knows it will never be :( It is sooooo sweet but so sad!!
The taperecorder and the billboards are so her husband, his best mate, thinks its carol singers at the door btw!

I also like the bit in Jerry Maguire where Renee says "You had me at hello" awwwww!!!

My favourite romantic film is Sliding Doors with Gwyneth Paltrow. John Hannah is so lovely and has such a lovely accent, I just want to cuddle him.

The best bit in Love Actually is the opening scene, when he says, if you ever lose your faith in love, go and sit in the arrivals hall at heathrow, and watch people coming back to their friends and loved ones. Its so true, I love doing that whilst waiting for people off their planes.

I love airports, I do that too. I make up wee stories about the people there and who they are waiting for.
John Hannah is lovely huh! I liked him in Four Weddings and a Funeral - the funeral eulogy he does for his partner is so moving "You are my North, my South....."

Oh yeah...love him. He has really twinkly eyes.

Dream date: sitting with John Hannah at heathrow, making up stories about the people getting off the planes :)

I agree, that's a lovely scene.

My fave romantic scene of all time has to be in Titanic though; the 'flying' scene where Jack and rose kiss for the first time. I can never watch that without getting a lump in my throat!

John Cussack stood outside the window with the ghetto-blaster held high playing 'In Your Eyes' in Say Anything.

One of my favourite romantic scenes also involves John Cusack.

It's the bathroom scene(s) towards the end of "Grosse Pointe Blank" when he tells Minnie Driver he loves her and wants to marry her, while at the same time shooting at hired assassins who're trying to assassinate her father. Sounds strange maybe, but it's really moving, and is all about Redemption, which always makes me feel soppy.

Perhaps you need to have watched the film ....:D

Sleepless in Seattle - the bit where they meet on the top of the skyscraper.

Zeferelli's Romeo & Juliet - the tombstone scene.

West Side Story - where the lovers sing "Tonight".

Dustin Hoffman sitting in the back of a bus with the bride at the end of "The Graduate". Funny, but romantic, as true love wins in the end.

Ok, I'll have to stop now - pass me the tissues please.

Most romantic scene is in The Wedding Singer at the end on the plane when Adam Sandler sings to Drew Barrymore. It gets me every time even though Adam Sandler isn't that nice looking...but then i have a thing for mullets! :help:

Also starring Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore - 50 First Dates. The entire second half is really romantic but I love it at the end when she wakes up on the yacht and watches the video of them getting married and goes above deck to be greeted by him and their daughter.

He really knows the ingredients for a romantic moment!

The hotel suite scene in True Lies where she has to dance for him and misses when she goes to catch the bed post :hihi:

But I'm not the soppy sort and enjoyed the humour in that scene

The bit near the end of Moonstruck when they're outside in the snow...

"Loretta, I love you. Not like they told you love is, and I didn't know this either, but love don't make things nice - it ruins everything. It breaks your heart. It makes things a mess. We aren't here to make things perfect. The snowflakes are perfect. The stars are perfect. Not us. Not us! We are here to ruin ourselves and to break our hearts and love the wrong people and die."

Us Oldies have our fave rave romantic scenes as well. Mine is the closing shots of 'Love Is A Many Splendered Thing' when Jenifer Jones is on the hill overlooking Hong Kong harbour remembering her tryst with William Holden.

oh i have to agree with The Wedding Singer, 50 First Dates is a very good film as well. Philadelphia made me cry the first time i watched it, as did Love Story when he shouts at her and spends all afternoon looking for her to find her on the doorstep when he gets home.
I cry a lot i think
