marks and spencers. They use cadburys chocolate.

i dunno if he's still there but on the road (closed) down thru heeley city farm (directly opposite alexandra road), there is a house at the bottom, or more of a bakery :). We used to go and knock on the door and get the nicest freshly made donuts ever for ~20p a piece :), bit out of your way if your not in the area tho.

I believe he supplies quite a few sandwich shops with buns and stuff :).

never been to the states but have been to RAF Lakenheath which is an absolutely massive US Airforce base in Suffolk, they had a Dunkin' Donuts and I tried a few there and they were unbelievably good :D

All the supermarket ones I have had have been very much the same.

Very Sweet
Very Messy

Nothing like the ones you get at a fair or seaside where they have those doughnut making machines.

Much prefer a Vanilla Slice or a Flapjack, sorry to take the thread sideways.

Chris Moyles on Radio one has just been going on about krispy kremes apparently the company has sent him loads and he says theyre really nice and everyone whos had one agrees. He says theyre going to sell them in Harrods. I like do-nuts but i never have them cos whenever ive eaten one i always feel like ive put on half a stone in weight.

There's a place at Bents green shops called the Ploughmans and my friend rates their chocolate doughnuts!!!

in the observer food monthly (this sunday oct 11th)
it rated:

asda glazed rings (98p for 4) with 4 stars ****
krispy kreme - original glazed doughnut (90p each) 4 stars ****

then,
safeway glazed ring (42p each) got 2 stars **
and sainsburys pink fondant ring (65p each) and mcdonalds (59p) got NO STARS!!!

dont agree with the last two, as IMO they are the best in the bunch!

McD's Cinnamon donuts are superb!

Mc D's doughnuts are horrible!!! They taste like plain bread most of the time! YUCK!

I happen to like the taste of plain bread...

Plain bread is nice, when you're expecting plain bread....when you want a sweet doughnut its a bit of a shock to get a bland lump of so-called doughnut!

Yeah the donut shop is still there. I went last week. Its just like a house really and you knock on the door and they'll come out and give em you. There not shaped like a traditional donut - more like a hotdog shape really but they're really yummy!! For only 10p they're cheap too!! :D

There is a small stall outside the Castle Square tram stop. They have a doughnut making machine, and sell freashly made doughnuts and candyfloss! Great stuff! :thumbsup:
