View Full Version : House alarm installer recommendations LL200 02-04-2005, 19:10 does anyone have any recommendations for house alarm installation companies? mine's dead and needs replacing/upgrading. ta! Strix 02-04-2005, 23:40 I fancy one of those things you can view your house on the net with - but I've no idea of feasability and cost. Anybody know? ANGELUS 03-04-2005, 00:40 We've got the BT Home Monitoring system installed at our home, I think thats the one that Strix is talking about. Its fantastic and we put it up ourselves no problem at all in under 30 minutes. Its all wireless so no cables cluttering up the place and also you can have your home call you, TXT you or email you if anyone attempts to break into your home. It really is good. Check out the BT website for more info though. Price we paid was I think £100 for the complete set but you can buy addons like more sensors and the control box separately as well. Strix 03-04-2005, 00:50 That sounds like the thing! I'll look tomorrow though - needs brain power ;) LL200 03-04-2005, 08:07 looks good. looks like its £200 on the BT website but £100 elsewhere. I can't seem to see much information about fitting an external siren. Is that possible? ANGELUS 03-04-2005, 16:59 Yep its possible mate. All you gotta do is go into the control panel menu on the main security box and add the external siren on to the list of things to activate when the alarm is tripped- takes about 20 seconds max. Then rig the external siren up outside. Thats how easy it is mate. Its so simple to setup it really is unbelieveable. NOTE: Just seen the prices on the BT website, bloody hell they have they bunged the prices up or what? We paid Im sure it was about £105 for ours in November last year- and thats including delivery as well. If you wanna go for the set- go for the deluxe kit - that will save you a lot of cash because you get an extra sensor + an extra keyfob too! carriewarr 03-04-2005, 18:16 Originally posted by LL200 does anyone have any recommendations for house alarm installation companies? mine's dead and needs replacing/upgrading. ta! If you decide to go for a more 'traditional' approach (i.e., not the BT whizz bang set up!) we've used Roy Mullins on 01246 411163 who did a good job. Cheers, Carrie LL200 03-04-2005, 19:48 Thank you. I'm going to get a quote by a more 'traditional' installer and then fall back on the wireless approach if they turn out to be too expensive (as I'm expecting...). willman 03-04-2005, 20:08 i used one fron the a dmag he advertises every week.cost us about £149 fitted.very good company can't remember his name (it was 3 years ago) but is ad is still in ad mag every week. Chris6187 10-04-2005, 21:53 Hi I'm Chris Barlow (Engineering Director) of Safe Security Systems. To fit a standard domestic house alarm (fully wired) you will be looking to pay around (£250-£350) however there are many different products available for home security so your best bet will be to have your property surveyed to make sure your getting the right equipment to suit your needs. Hope this helps. P.S Safe can be contacted on 0800 458 7281 or my mobile is 07866604433. Lurch 10-04-2005, 21:59 Have you got a budget for this? As Chris says, it depends on what you've got already and whether or not the existing specification is up to scratch, if it is satisfactory then a new panel, bell box and detection equipment would be easy enough to replace. Steer clear of the 'fully fitted for 150' brigade, some you fall lucky on but you never know. If you want a quote for a system PM me with your details. LL200 15-04-2005, 06:56 Hi thanks for the replies. I dont have a budget as such because I'll pay what I have to pay, but I was expecting £200+ I'm hoping to sort this out next week so I'll contact you both then. andywatton 10-05-2005, 18:12 Hi, Does anyone know of a good company for burglar alarms? Am moving in the next couple of weeks and the new house doesn't have one. Have tried on Google but no good local ones come up - jsut after one with decent prices for equipment/fitting/etc. Any help much appreciated :) Foxprom 10-05-2005, 18:34 try a guy called david wilson wolfe based in the walkley/crookes area i think did a great job on a school CCtv system and some security entry systems.
