Take a look at the website below . . . I think it'll be great! with lots more uses than just playing games.

Well, we know about the all-powerful new processor called cell jointly developed by IBM Toshiba & Sony. Cant really go far wrong with all 3 on board!
Also that the graphics will be like watching TV - maybe able to record Telly! & including an online connector to broadband.

Now that would be a PLAY station

or, looking beyond the press releases we have the cell processor, sounds good, but so far it's vapour ware, a single screen shot from ea games that may as well be an artists impression for all we know and a network connector (well there's a suprise). Absolutely nothing in that article worth reading.

Jeez!:gag: Is nothing worth looking forward to in your world . . . AT LEAST I KNOW THEY'RE MAKING IT AND TO ME IT SOUNDS LIKE IT'S WORTH WAITING FOR!!!

I'm quite sure it will be good and it's worth waiting for (although the Xbox2 appears to be going to make it to market first). My point was and still is that the article holds virtually no information and certainly no new information.
The cell processor info has been around for months and it's no suprise that nvidia are making the graphics chipset. The only thing they have extra is an artists impression of next gen graphics which was probably rendered on a pc.

You see Cyclone - Im one of those people who are quite happy to use a playstation without getting all technical about it.
The first one was good, the PS2 is even better, the graphics, selection of games accessories etc . .

I read the article and the extras that the PS3 will have ( to me ) sound even better then the PS2. I'm not exactly a computer geek or games expert but I like to play with all the new gadgets - when something new comes out, I can't wait for it . . . From the article - You got nothing. Whilst I got lots to be excited about!:P

Maybe it's me, but I don't care if the new cell processor is vapourised or laserjet or whatever star trek nonsense . . . I just hope it does what they say & if the graphics will be like that then I dont care.

"How powerful will it be?
Very. The heart of the console will be a new processor called Cell, jointly developed by IBM, Toshiba and Sony. It’s said to be more powerful than Sinclairs ZX81 - the one which famously would never load and crashed when the 16k RAM Pack moved"

Sounds a bit good then.

But then I read this; "This time round however, Sony will be opting for the new 'Wax Cylinder ROM Drive'. Sony belive that this will cure their inability to make a laser that lasts longer than six months."

Let's hope so :hihi:

well, it's been like 4 years, weren't you expecting it to be better?

And it was vapourware. Meaning so far no one has seen a product, all thats been seen have been press releases.
Whilst I don't for a minute think that IBM, Tosh and Sony will can it, things have been announced before and either been years late, or not quite what was announced.

Seriously, anyone who keeps up with the industry could have written that article, it has no informational content beyond that commonly available for the last several months.

I'm not being negative about the PS3, just about that article.

good point. Reminded me about the reference to Deep Blue. I can't be bothered to check, but I expect some of us have phones which are nearly as powerful as deep blue these days.
