I've also heard (don't know if it's true) that the 3 very large, very noisy emergency generators in our car park are tested early Sunday mornings. That would annoy me. The area's not too great either and no signs of imminent improvement. Stay away in my opinion. You may like it however. NatalieSheff 01-04-2005, 12:44 looks ace there, but opp quite rough estate Rich 01-04-2005, 16:07 Originally posted by NatalieSheff looks ace there, but opp quite rough estate Rough? In Eccleshall?! Never in yer life.. t020 01-04-2005, 16:37 Originally posted by Rich Rough? In Eccleshall?! Never in yer life.. That's because it isn't in Ecclesall, as you well know. It's on Ecclesall Road, opposite the large tower blocks at Broomhall, which are very rough indeed, and some 2 - 3 miles away from the area of Ecclesall. Since I've asked a moderator already to curtail your silly, juvenile baiting, and Max declined to take any action (despite you being in breach of site rules), I'm going to ask you nicely to stop the childish baiting which you have continuted for almost 1 and a half years. Surely there is more to your life? Tony 01-04-2005, 17:17 Mod: Rich, please can we stop this? Plain Talker 01-04-2005, 20:31 it is not going to be really pleasant to live in the wards brewery development for a while, as the open land next door to it (behind the car showroom , going towards waitrose) is about to have some horrendous, nine-storey carbuncle built on it. (yeah! like the area NEEDS more high-rise/ high-density housing and offices!) So you will have 18 months or so living next to a building site. you may be as well to pass.... PT Lucy_Smith 01-04-2005, 20:48 Thanks for that PT...me and my boyfriend have been considering moving there in July. Am beginning to think twice about it now! Don't know what I'd do without this forum :D Maddy 02-04-2005, 13:20 I lived on the estate at the bottom of Eccy Road opposite the brewary flats for 4 years. One of the reasons we moved was because the area rapidly went downhill. Luckily we were in a position to buy anyway. I don't know how much of the problems on the estate travel across the road but it is not a safe area (I was attacked more than once both inside and outside the tower block) and I would urge caution. If there is decent security on the develpment then its probably fine but like others on here wanted to make you aware that there is a problem :) Good luck viking 02-04-2005, 13:24 Originally posted by Lucy_Smith Thanks for that PT.. Evei 04-04-2005, 19:03 I'm not too sure what the area is like now but three years ago I used to be a student that lived in some student flats behind the flats on broomhall rd, near the spar. I never had any problem myself, but other students were mugged and we had to be careful as if anyone left the communal doors open we would come across drugged/drunk men wondering around the student building! Getting food delivery was a pain too. I rarely walked through the flats or the surrounding streets on my own at night as it is pretty enclosed and you always felt you were being watched (though this was prob me being paranoid) I personally would not choose to live in that area again as I felt to be safe at night I had to get taxi's everywhere at night if i was going out on my own, which is ok if you can afford it! In the day it was a friendly area to be in with some characters! The other side the brewery flat back onto (sharrow) i've never had probs with. I'm sure the brewery flats are much more secure but i thought i'd give you an idea of the general area. melthebell 04-04-2005, 19:33 Originally posted by Evei I rarely walked through the flats or the surrounding streets on my own at night as it is pretty enclosed and you always felt you were being watched (though this was prob me being paranoid) Its like that during the day too :P ive walked thru the middle of those flats a few times over the years....never been mugged or owt mind, then it was over 10 years or so ago :) Jenno 01-04-2006, 09:55 Hi all.... In response to queries about living at Wards Brewery... I'd just like to say, I'd be there in a flash if I could afford it! I lived there with my partner for 6 months, but were renting and had to move out so we could save for a mortgage. But anyway.... I think they are gorgeous. When you're in an appartment, what's over the road isn't as much of a concern as if you're buying a house. We were in one which over looks the gardens in the middle, and I just loved it. There was a maintenance fee of about 90 quid a month, which if I'm honest was alot of money for not alot. But I'm still in love with it, just wish we could afford one! Go and take a look and see what you think. They are finished to a great spec! basshedz2 01-04-2006, 12:52 I used to live opposite the Pomona on Ecclesall Road, and used to walk back through Broomhall and past the tower blocks on my way home from town and Sheffield University SU, and never had or saw any trouble (this is about 2/3 years ago), YMMV though. Alex Knoxville 03-04-2006, 15:20 Make sure it's not one of the ones round the back that our office looks into! So you work at EDS? Shouldn't you be working now? nick2 04-04-2006, 08:25 How long ago was that place built, is the bar/restaurnat underneath it still empty ?
