So Manchester United have won their 10th league title under Fergie, and now stand at 17 overall, just one behind Wimblepool. So what is the likelihood of United drawing level with Wimblepool next season and overhauling them in the 2009-2010 season?

Every likelihood. Man U thoroughly deserved it this year, they've played scintilating attacking football at times and even when poor have got results.

Gerard was whining in the press yesterday about wanting to play in a Liverpool team that for once actually mounts a challenge for the Title........nah, ain't going to happen!

Id say the likelihood is pretty high.

Out of curiousity, what's the overall score between them now:

18-17 Liverpool league
5-2 Liverpool European Cups (Hope that becomes 5-3 in a couple of weeks)
League cups?
European trophies?
World Club champions
Super cup winners

I know they hate each other, is this rivalry down to their success or is it summit else?

Liverpool have won 8 European trophies to United's three (3 UEFA Cups for the Reds, 1 Cup-Winners' Cup for the Red Devils)

Liverpool have 7 League Cup wins (in whatever sponsor's guide) to United's two.

United have 11 FA Cups to Liverpool's 7.

United have also won the European Super Cup once, and the Intercontinental Cup/World Club Cup once. Liverpool also have one Super Cup, but have never won the Intercontinental Cup. (Twice, having won the European Cup, Liverpool refused to play in it due to the aggressive violence of the South American teams, who've always taken it much more seriously than have the Europeans. Ajax and Bayern Munich also refused to play it at various times in the 70s. On each such occasion the team they beat in the final played instead.)

I make that 41 to Liverpool, and 35 to United. Add Charity Shields (if you count that as a meaningful trophy), and the gap decreases by only one - United have 16 to Liverpool's 15.

Good on Fergie
Was a Mark Robbins goal away from the sack and has turned Man Utd into the biggest club in Europe
Guided Beckham,Giggs,Scholes and Nevilles and signed Ronaldo, without doubt the best foreign player ever in the prem.
Even better than Cantona (another Fergie Signing)
Hope he gets the double, deserves it
