I fancy a glider chair, and although the one in John Lewis is really comfy, it's a bit out of our price range.

Anyone bought a cheaper glider chair that they've been happy with?

I ended up not getting a nursing chair, as you aren't suppose to be 'too comfy', as that encourages you to go to sleep when nursing the baby.
I always sat with plenty of pillows on my sofa to ensure upright, etc and this seemed to do the job for me, especially as I had to feed underarm position and not the normal one.

There are some in meadowhall mothercare feeding room that I used to look forward to using, they are so comfy! As someone who would regularly fall asleep whilst feeding and in fact lie down deliberately to do so, that aspect doesn't bother me, but you're right they're a fortune! My sister in law got hers off ebay, so it might be worth a look, I could even ask her about selling hers as she's not bfeeding anymore but she lives in Harrogate.

I saw one in Mothercare when pg and adored it but at £400 it was a tad over budget (and then some).
Anyway, OH bought one from eBay, brand new and with matching rocking footstool and loads cheaper and I love it so much I've re-covered it to match the lounge and kept it :)
eBay!

Try them out first - I tried a friend's and was so glad.

As soon as the chair started moving I started feeling dizzy and sick

I checked on ebay a few days ago as I want one - I think you'll be happily surprised at the prices.

I honestly would not waste the money. I got one and it was used just once. When he woke in the night he was fed in the bedroom, it made no sense at all to get up out of a warm bed and take him into another room, and in the day he was with me so again it made no sense, especially when I already had a perfectly comfortable sofa!

My neighbour did the same, bought one and never used it! If you're short on space you will also struggle to find somewhere to put it.

I class them in the unnecessary pile, along with changing tables, bottle warmers, and nappy disposal systems. Nice to have if you have plenty of room and money, but not worth it otherwise.

Depends if you're getting it specifically for nursing, or because you think it's a lovely, comfy chair you will get use out of for years to come. Ideally, option 2 is the best reason to buy any item of furniture.
At night I'll be nursing upstairs, if I have a glider it will be downstairs...for nursing, for sitting and gliding the little one to sleep, for relaxing all by myself. I just love those chairs.
I used our old rocker more than ever before after cosycub came along, mosly for rocking him to sleep at nap times...that's convinced me that we'd have a use for one - especially at just over £100 which is the price I've noted on ebay.

However, i do agree with Mathom, think about things sensibly when you're having your first - it's all too easy to jump on the bandwagon and think you need everything - so much is totally not necessary. I vote bottle warmers as the top most useless item, followed by baby baths, nappy disposal gadgets and changing stations...seems like a lot of parents agree on a similarlist, lol.

IMHO gliders are fab, and super comfy. I've tried a few different makes, but all are lovely. I had one for when my lo was small. I didn't actually use it all that much in the end as we have a really comfy sofa and I simply prefered that. We bought it on ebay, and I managed to sell it on the facebook marketplace - both great places to buy and sell stuff. I managed to buy it for £50 and sell for the same :)

I would recommend getting one with the pickets in it, very useful for storing stuff including books whilst feeding lo. Speaking of feeding, does everyone know that it is breastfeeding awareness week? There are some events going on around sheffield - I'll do a separate post on events about this and attach a link.

i bought mine glider chair and matching stool from kiddicare online it cost around 80.00 including delivery! i,m still pregnant however spend more time sat on the chair than the settee as i glide and don,t feel heavy and clumsy! but even if you use for a couple of months it doesn,t break the bank

I brought two black faux leather ones from glynn webbs a few years ago, they were £99 each with the footstools and I love them! I always used to nurse my babies in them :)
