View Full Version : X-box 360 3 red rings... logeyboy 09-05-2008, 13:36 How much to get a 360 with 3 red rings repaired if its out of warranty?? Cynic 09-05-2008, 13:44 They have 3 years warranty on RROD issues. So it may still be in warranty? logeyboy 09-05-2008, 13:59 Someone selling one for £40 on here, guessing its out of warranty if they didn't get it fixed? Cynic 09-05-2008, 14:06 Someone selling one for £40 on here, guessing its out of warranty if they didn't get it fixed? or they don't know about the extended warranty. shhh :hihi: bkcin 09-05-2008, 14:22 Go on to xbox.com, register the console using the serial number on the back. It will then tell you whether your warranty has expired or not. Even if it says that it has expired, click on request repair and it will give you a drop down menu for - Has your 360 got the 3 red rings? select yes then fill in your details. This is covered under the 3 years warranty for RROD, and seeing as though the console came out in Nov 2005, no console can have an expired 3 year warranty. They will then give send you further instructions on how to send it to them (they pay for a courier to come and pick it up). It happened to mine a couple of weeks ago, and after sending it MS it took them about 5 days to reply saying that they are sending a replacement console. I still haven't got it back yet though because they courier has twice had problems delivering it this week (it was mis-sorted at first and sent to the wrong delivery centre, and then yesterday it was not taken out in the monring by accident) I was told that it would come today but judging by UPS's mistakes earlier this week, I won't hold my breath! Lisa*Marie* 09-05-2008, 17:59 I sent mine back to microsoft for the exact same problem ............ 4 weeks later and i eventually got it back . Hope you dont suffer the same garbage service i did . bkcin 09-05-2008, 20:06 I sent mine back to microsoft for the exact same problem ............ 4 weeks later and i eventually got it back . Hope you dont suffer the same garbage service i did . I can't fault them for how they have dealt with me to be honest, I received a service number within a couple of hours, called up UPS and they came and picked it up the next day, then it took a couple of days for it to be delivered to microsoft (i sent it on a friday), then about 3 days later I got a message from them saying that it had been replaced and they had shipped it to me. UPS however, are rubbish and although on the tracking feature on their website says i should have received it on monday or tuesday, they have messed it all up and its still not here now. mholey 11-05-2008, 04:26 I can't fault them for how they have dealt with me to be honest, I received a service number within a couple of hours, called up UPS and they came and picked it up the next day, then it took a couple of days for it to be delivered to microsoft (i sent it on a friday), then about 3 days later I got a message from them saying that it had been replaced and they had shipped it to me. This is exactly how it was dealt with on both mine, and my brothers xbox's. Except for UPS were good, and the whole process only took about 7-10 days. bkcin 11-05-2008, 08:19 This is exactly how it was dealt with on both mine, and my brothers xbox's. They finally delivered it yesteryday, they reckon that they called round on thursday evening but couldn't park outside  and they also reckon that they came round on friday morning but noone was (which isn't true as I was basically sat by the door the whole day). But even with the delivery problems, the total turnaround has only been 2 weeks, which isn't too bad. soulvapour 11-05-2008, 09:58 can it only be sent back with the ring of death, i have a mates 360 which has a dvd drive problem, it wont load games up and it sounds awful, and its been like this a while, he purchased it in september 07 but lost receipt would they still look at it or need receipt? as its registered online with them. They will still sort it. Btw. depending where he bought it, the shop will more than likely be able to find you a copy of the receipt anyway if you give them the month and the last 4 digits of the card he used to buy it with.. (if he used one that is) bkcin 11-05-2008, 15:26 can it only be sent back with the ring of death, i have a mates 360 which has a dvd drive problem, it wont load games up and it sounds awful, and its been like this a while, he purchased it in september 07 but lost receipt would they still look at it or need receipt? as its registered online with them. I didn't need a receipt or anything. If its registered online then it will tell you whether its in warranty or not. DVD drive will be covered under the 1 year warranty. John 11-05-2008, 15:52 All electrical goods are covered for 6 years under UK Law. If you get the 3ROD after the 3 years expiry date then take it back to the shop and get them to repair it. They won't win any argument because the 3ROD is a well documented problem and they sold it you knowing full well that problems existed. http://www.guardian.co.uk/money/2006/mar/25/consumernews.howtocomplain Space 13-05-2008, 17:39 All electrical goods are covered for 6 years under UK Law. Is this a typo? If not, where is this documented? China would go belly up if it were true! :hihi: SimpyTimpy 13-05-2008, 19:00 yeah the six year figure is wrong clearly. JFKvsNixon 13-05-2008, 19:41 yeah the six year figure is wrong clearly. So you didn't read the link then, and you missed this point. Shoppers are being sold short when expensive electrical goods break down. If a TV or fridge packs up just one day after an initial one-year guarantee, customers are told they have to pay for the repair - but the truth is that retailers may be liable for up to six years. John 13-05-2008, 20:39 Try this official link: http://www.berr.gov.uk/consumers/fact-sheets/page38311.html Key Facts: • Wherever goods are bought they must "conform to contract". This means they must be as described, fit for purpose and of satisfactory quality (i.e. not inherently faulty at the time of sale). • For up to six years after purchase (five years from discovery in Scotland) purchasers can demand damages (which a court would equate to the cost of a repair or replacement). DiamondGirl 13-05-2008, 22:39 Why cant they do what sony do and just come out with another console to swap it for, rather than messing about sending it off! Kry10 13-05-2008, 23:20 It is a sad state of affairs that a console exists with this recurring problem, this is the main reason for me avoiding the eggbox 180, ooops, xbox 360 like a plague, I don't want to spend over £100 and then end up with an expensive paperweight, but, as usual, Moronsoft end up producing another half *ssed product. |
