I have an appointment in Leeds next week, and have to be at a location just off J46 of the M1 for about 08:45. I'll be travelling from Hillsborough up the A61 and joining the M1 at J36. Allowing for traffic, how long do you think this will take?

Thanks,

probably 1hr 30, so leave at 6:45. I presume you are driving.

Sorry, I knew I'd leave something out! Yes, I will be driving!

Thanks Cyclone; does anyone think I need to leave any earlier?

It's still school hols next week so the traffic should be a bit lighter but I'd still give yourself plenty of time. Normally the M1 is standing traffic from J38 (Denby Dale) by around 7:30am and is very slow until you're past the M62 junction. The problem is that if you are early to beat the jams then you'll be very early for the appointment, but better early than late. Once you're past the M62 junction your run should be clear. The traffic piles up for Leeds further down the M621 but you'll be peeling off for the M1 North.

I left at 07:05 (always on the last minute!), and arrived at 08:00. I spent 45 minutes in the car park of a near-by Sainsbury's eating croissants and drinking OJ!

I left at 11:10 and was back for 12:00

Thanks to all for your help! I'll let you know how I got on (job interview!)
