I think it depends on whether the fish is thrown over or under-arm

Magic answer nick2

However I think it's not the one dan was looking for. Dan a lot depends on if they are wild fish, or those tame things that are put into a muddy puddle in such numbers that it's impossible not to catch them.

A wild Tench has to be amongst the hardest to catch. and is certainly IMHO one of the best looking fish.

Agreed
Although Grayling can be pretty hard to catch too.

Go to virtually any of the ponds in Sheffield and you will catch Tench easily ;). My favourite pond for Tench has to be Frecheville. They go up to about 5lb and i have regularly had 25+ bag's of Tench in just a few hours from there :).

What do you mean by hardest to catch? Do you mean the best fighter or the rarest?

Tench are lovely lookers, however they have a texture and slimy consistency only seen down Jordans undercrackers.

I had a tench that weighed 3Lb 2oz at westwood, however before i landed it it broke my line and swam off.

How'd you know it weighed 3lb 2oz then :suspect:

The slime on the Tench (or Tinca) was used by people years a go for it's healing qualities. Not sure i'd like to be rubbing fish slime in to a wound though :gag:
