I'm doing a test of some broadcasting software and I'm playing nothing but Northern Soul, Stax and Motown.
I'm after feedback on the sound quality of the stream as I cannot hear it here at Not Wanted Towers and if you have any problems or bugs I need to fix.
The stream is 64 kbps and I'm not sure if that is high enough quality.
http://82.38.197.132:8000/listen.m3u click the link and it should open and play in any media player, I've tried Itunes, Winamp, VLC, Chroma and Mplayer and it works in all of those.
It's going to be on all day and I've got 2 gig of soul music so I might be able to do a request or two.
Cheers

It actually sounds very good for 64kbps. It does have to buffer quite often though. Might be my connection. But it makes it almost unlistenable.
Oh, it's not doing it now. Like the music anyway!

I've just done a speed test and my upload speed is 700kbs and download is 3500kbs..which quite frankly is crap for a 20 meg connection so that might the buffering problem. I could up the bitrate to 128 but a lot of the recordings I've got are from the original vinyl, tapes or cheap CD's so the quality isn't brilliant for a lot of the stuff I've got. I've got stuff playing through an EQ before it gets to the broadcast software which should improve the sound quality.
Anyway cheers for the feed back.

I wonder if you kind people could help me out again.
I'm trying to see how much this old computer can take so I've got MSN on, downloading a torrent ( Rich, it's legal no need to go running to the mods, it's my mates wedding video) as well as trying to stream audio. I've upped the bitrate to 96kbps and tried to EQ things to take the hissyness out of stuff. The sound quality is all over the place due to the nature of the recordings and I'm trying to find a happy balance.
Anyway click this http://82.38.197.132:8000/listen.m3u and the stream should start in any media player. Winamp, itunes, vlc, quicktime, chroma all work. I would like to know if it works with realplayer/media
I cannot hear the stream as it's coming out of my speakers so getting feedback is useful to me as I'm trying to guess the levels which is a pain.
The music is mostly Northern Soul and it's good sunny music.
Cheers.

cheers, Ive got another 500 songs to put on over the next couple of days and then sort a website out. It should work out at about 3 days worth of northern before i start adding a lot of motown and stax stuff that I've got.
Right I'm off to a pub with a wireless connection so I can do my own feedback
