I was wondering what will happen to the pubs around Brammal Lane when students move in to The Forge, opposite St Marys .
I know that these pubs at the moment cater for footbal supporters and I would guess that apart from when there is a match, are pretty run of the mill pubs. Will they change to adapt to the style that students like to pull in their business.
Will they stilll allow football supporters. Can pubs cater for the 2 types ,or maybe they overlap?
I gues that they are hoping for more business as a result of that development
Well they can only get better.
I once had the most surreal experience ever in The Sportsman, which is probably the biggest dump of a pub I have ever been in. It involved a small child, a pool table, a scooter and attempts to locate 'Smirkoff Ice'.
I think most of the emphasis will be to London Road though.

Sounds ominous,pray tell more!
Well , they could have two different types of competitions.
One week the pub would arrange a Students v.Football Supporters football match and the next week there could be a sort of University Challenge.
On special occasions there would be Drinking Contests. I wonder who'd win what ?
Hehe, I think that the sort of footy game that would be played every other week on Bramall Lane with Blades supporters would involve students heads ;)

It would be a great mix though wouldnt it.
The passion of the football supporter intermingling with the chattering, fun loving, bleary eyed student.
I bet the pubs cant wait until September.
That is the target for the release of the flats, I think
You think the Sportsman is bad? What about the Sheldon, the beer choice is as crap as the prices.
Things should improve atmosphere-wise after the Forge opens, the thugs should be crouded out. Maybe across the road to Barney's, shudder!

Just out of interest, are the flats all rented in advance.?
I assume that they are students that will be new to Sheffield from September, or will some that are already resident be moving in?
