Has anyone heard thatthe authorities that be maybe shutting the accessible link to the station from the tram stop?

If this is true, it is a travesty! Yesterday I travelled from Gleadless Valley by tram to the said tram stop and went straight to platfom whatever and got on a train for a day trip to York.

If access to the station is locked from this tram stop, how are disabled people supposed to get to the station by public transport? Seems like a bad move for disability access, let alone access for everyone else.

It is indeed true that East Midlands trains are planning to put barriers at the station, to stop fare dodgers.:( But they don't seem to realise the inconvenience this will cause people, who will no longer have a suitable route from the Park Hill area and the Supertram to the city centre. There is a new campaign to try to stop this- RASC- Residents Against Station Closure- and there is an important meeting on June 3rd at Victoria Methodist Church, Stafford Road at 6.30pm, when people will have an opportunity to question East Midlands Trains about the proposal.

There has already been a demonstration at the station, which was attended by many different local groups, such as Friends of Sheaf Valley Park, Park Community Action,Transport4all, Victoria Methodist Church, Grace Owen Nursery, UCU members, and representatives from Labour, Green, Liberal Democrat and Conservative Parties.

You can find out more about this on my blog but I can't put a link in to this post! You can try googling manorcastlegreens.
