A friend bought a CD, not realsinig that it was a Super Audio disc.

It won't play in any of my CD or DVD machines, and neither a PC nor a Mac will read it at all.

Is there any way it can be played, or the music copied onto an ordinary disc, short of going out and buying a Super Audio CD player?

Hmm, most SACDs have a CD layer as well but I guess not all of them. Unfortunately the only way to play it is on an SACD player. I know Pioneer do a combi DVD/SACD/DVD-A player around £100.
