I live on the weaklands part of hackenthorpe and all the houses accross from me are making the estate look like a warzone with all the metal grids on the windows and I was just wondering when they actually knock them all down and replace them with new posh houses will those people be happy to have the two bedroomed flat roof houses straight accross from them. The new houses look like they'll be tops and I like this area even though it can be really quiet most of the time. Does anyone also know if the council are intending to improve the houses that are still here? Double glazing would be a nice touch especially as we'll have to put up with the noise when they knock the houses down, and that might limit the noise a little.

Can you tell us the steet name and the range of numers please?
If not your numbers, guess at the numbers opposite that ae being 'developed'.
The process of moving people from these three estates is now underway and when blocks are emptied, the services (gas, water, electricty) are disconnevted as soon as possible. Once this is done by the utilities companies, the blocks will be demolished to allow the rebuilding phases. The whole scheme across the three estates is a seven to ten year programme, with a mix of properties being built as replacements - some rented, some owner occupiers, some shared equity.
With regard to the other council houses in the area, they will all benefit from the investment under the governments Decent Homes standard.
