Pauline,

I left my mum's house in Stocksbridge @7.30pm last night, as I was approaching the tissue factory (Jamont) there were people and cars all over the place, definitely one car a total write off and others strewn in the road and footpath. I must have got there 5 minutes after what looked like quite a bad accident.

Other motorists had pulled up and were warning other approaching drivers such as myself to slow down and turn around as the road was totally blocked. At that time there were no emergency vehicles in attendance. As I turned and left, the police landrover was just arriving, and as I approached Deepcar on my way back, the fire engine was just coming down Manchester Road. I then joined the bypass to get on the Motorway, and an ambulance and several other police cars were on the way down. I don't know what had happened but it looked pretty bad. However there has been nothing on the news today so hopefully it might not have been as bad as it looked.

I know exactly where you're talking about. I once had a bump there myself, although thankfully there was no damage to drivers or passengers.

Isn't there a car park entrance just around there with a concealed exit?

Hope nobody was hurt! :|

It's mentioned in the Star tonight. Don't have it in front of me right now but from memory of the article it was an Escort which lost control and bounced off a wall into a van which caused the van to lose control and hit another vehicle. The woman driver of the Escort was cut out and taken to hosital with spinal injuries.

thanks for that, glad no one killed, it made me go cold as I approached the scene, because only a couple of months ago I came upon a crash scene on Holywell Road near Meadowhall whilst on my way home and a young man had died there and I saw him. Last night brought back some bad memories, I shivered all the way home.

I tired to get some info from the "Sheffield Today" website - but i couldnt. See my other thread for details.

Back on topic this is not normally a bad accident site, so i dont know why a car would loose it - unless they were doing about 50mph round that corner?

Possibly a lot less than that if it was at all damp. The slippy patches of leaves/puddles are almost invisible on any part of that road in low light conditions or bad weather.

Yes i agree - there are plenty of trees along that strech of road - but it has never caused a problem before? Anway, jsut another reminder to us all to take care when driving?
