View Full Version : Gladiators! Ready!
This Sunday, May 11th sees the long awaited return of Gladiators on Sky One at 6 PM (Or is it 7? I haven't bought this week's TV guide yet), who's going to be watching it?
I will, just to see if the female Gladiators are as fit as Jet, Lightning et al on the original Gladiators series
Won't be the same without Ulrikka Johnson though, John Fashanu and his "awooga" did get more than a tad annoying sometimes though.
NEKRO138 06-05-2008, 11:38 ohn Fashanu and his "awooga" did get more than a tad annoying sometimes though.
That was Kris Akabusi that used to say that. And not on Gladiators.

.
Just download some porn. It's more honest.
I'll watch it. Once. Good job it is on a Sunday really, there are more exciting things to do Saturday night! They don't look as good as the original lot I don't think.
I'll be watching this because the man with 3 names is on!
Yes, and I can't wait. I fricken love the Gladiators.
fluffystuff 07-05-2008, 18:06 I have Virgin media so watching sky one if not an option. YEH:D
Grim Reaper 07-05-2008, 18:08 I'm watching it - I used to love Gladiators.
Does anyone on here reckon they could go on Gladiators as a contender if they had auditions?
I know I couldn't, there's a few events I'd be no good at, Hang Tough (the one where you traverse the rings) I definitely couldn't do, I just don't have the upper body strength :(

I'd do the 'running the wrong way up Morrisons travelator' as an event. :hihi:

Certainly not for me :hihi:
I may watch it at the weekend though, if theres nothing else on.

There won't be, there never is on a Sunday.

So true. It's rhubarb lately.
Isn't hang tough over a big trough of water for the new series?
I rarely used to watch the original series, but I'll probably tune in to the new series to see what its like.
See if they come up with any new ideas.
I'm watching it as I write, so far I'm not all that impressed, that female Gladiator in the first event, panther, is fugly.
So, I thought it was rubbish at first, but I gave it a chance, and it improved in the later events, I still don't think it's as good as the original series, but it was never going to be IMO.
Grim Reaper 11-05-2008, 18:13 I loved it.
I'm watching Beat the Star instead - much better :P
I think Oblivion aka the Big O is this generation's Wolf, bit of a bad guy who thinks he's hard.
I'm really impressed they managed to sustain the level of cheese from the early 90s

I enjoyed the 'trying to look really hard' poses. Plus, I'm chuffed to bits that the Travelator is still on at the end. :D
Good choice of presenters but the gladiators are a bit weak looking. I also didn't like all the disco lights etc, I found it hard viewing. ;)
The most dissappointing thing for me was that the new female Gladiators are nowhere near as fit or attractive IMO as the original ones, that Battleaxe one looked like she'd be more at home in a wrestling ring!
The dark haired one's nice though, the one who was in the event with the balls (not Powerball, the one with the Bridge)
I enjoyed it and yeah they kept the cheese in. Still as said above it was never going to be as good as the first Gladiators
The_DADDY 11-05-2008, 21:58 Just seen it and all i can say is i wont be watching it again.
Load of old ****e.
That oblivion is hilarious though.
He looks like Mr Bean on steroids..

There is one called 'battleaxe' ? :hihi::hihi:
Thankfully I don't have Sky so easily avoided it. :P
I heard that Ian Wright is hosting it? :gag:
the only thing that would get me closer to pulling a gun out, is if he also uses 'awoooga!!!!' aswell :hihi:

I remember when Fash used that...what an idiot
:hihi:
Rest of the oldshow was top notch though.
Is there any way of watching it on the internet? I don't have any sort of digital tv (only get 4 channels!).
I really want to watch it!
Not legally I don't think, and I don't wanna get banned for mentioning the illegal ways.
It was ok. Not as good as the old one, but it's only the first episode so have to give it chance.
3-4 well fit birds tho, so thats all good.
Venables 12-05-2008, 20:47 Missed it.
Is there anyone who can live up to the might of old boggle eyes Shadow, and the bangness of Jet?
Any wolfesque baddies?

Oblivion seems to be this generation's Wolf type character, look on here (http://www.sky.com/gladiators) for details of the new Gladiators.

haha, nice spot. Love how it is moving in and out as well :hihi:
wondertec 13-05-2008, 09:01 I'm glad someone started a thread on this....
I watched it and to be honest, was quite disspointed. The male gladiators are no where near as big and muscly as the old uns' (thinking of shadow, warrior, cobra n hunter) tho the women aren't bad, Battleaxe looks likes a house end tho!!:hihi: wouldn't wanna rumble with her.
What's the nam eof the one who did duel?? spartan? he's delicious and i think he will be my reason for tuning in next week. The OH spent the whole time saying "they aren't very big are they"!! Oblivion is a tit. Not even that big, not like the big, bad Wolf!! Awwooooogaaa!
