Well I finally got my bunny! Thanks to Angie at Barnsley rescue for her help - and Sooz for getting me into the bunny thing (I might need a little female friend for him Sooz - keep your eyes out!)

He's flopped in the corner of his cage after having a busy afternoon. We brought him home in a cat carrier and left it with the door open so he could come out in his own time. Mistake number 1...... couldn't get him back into any sort of confinement as everywhere was somewhere to explore. :hihi:

He seemed very relaxed and found a little spot to flump down on and had a little rest (I took that as a positive sign), then it was back to bunnying around and jumping over us (we layed on the floor so he could come near us without us looking big and scary) and nibbling my OH's toes (explain that one)

He's in his cage now (tiring day) sprawled out having first covered it in a liberal layer of poo (which has been tidied up and put in his litter tray)

I gave him a handful of pellets mid afternoon (a sort of lunch time welcome home, yes we do feed you sort of dinner) a stick of celery, an inch of carrot and a little brocolli. I'm worried I'll over feed him, but he's hoovered the lot (but not touched water really - he is aware that it is there) and I don't want to leave it until tea time tomorrow to feed. Perhaps someone bunny minded can put me back on the right path :)

He's a right little minx and has found a favourite perch already - on a shelf under a table.

Can't wait for him to be properly housetrained and free roaming - he's going to make a wonderful houserabbit and bestest friend for both of us (and the hamster - although he was scared of the noises it was making earlier :p)

Any little tips would be lovely. As he's a rescue bun (only a few months old as was part of an unwanted litter that they couldn't find a home for) he deserves to have the best life he can, and I want to give him that but am worried that I'll make him miserable unintentionally.

Thank you :D

I think you've set this little chap off to a brilliant start - that was so lovely to read and I can sense your absolute pleasure at having this new member of the family.

Keep us informed .. and don't forget the pics when if he's not camera shy. :)

CAMERA SHY? He was built for the camera :hihi: I'm going to get my OH to put the pics up as I'm incapable!

Little Treacle (or hotpot as I decided he should be called last night :hihi:) is already being a right nuisance. I opened his front door to give him a hug, and the rabbit shot past me, went nuts for a few minutes, then lay out in front of the window. He the proceeded to create a little rabbit run through all the bits us humans can't get to and then ran to and from it (with a hooman at each end) did a lap of us, and back down the little gaps. Then he'd flop out again behind the curtains. As soon as we got near him, he'd look like he was going to have a cuddle, then scoot past and do it all again (nipping my OH's toes as he went, I think we need to train him out of that)

Rabbit 1, Human 0

Round 2 - re capturing the little gi. sorry, darling, and getting him back home as humans were now hungry. 35mins. I'm not joking - he was having a whale of a time, we were running out of patience :p In the end, the cat carrier was brought out - he'd hop into that one easily. Then shoved that up by his front door so he could get in his cage but nowhere else. One swift move and the door was shut. Phew.

Then the pooing began :|

For a litter trained bunny he did a very good job! The next 2-3 hours were poo picking and putting in his litter tray. This morning there are only a few stray ones. Woohoo.

Slightly concerned that he wasn't drinking much, so Angie (who didn't mind me ringing at 9pm!) suggested putting a water bowl in his cage as he might not be able to find the bottle. So I did. Little wiffle nose in bowl, one slurp, two mighty paws in bowl = one soaked cage and one soaked rabbit. That was challenging to clean up.

He's still not had an awful lot to drink - I've now placed the heaviest bowl in there that I can find, and he's had perhaps 20ml. Is this ok? He's still mad as a hatter and friendly so I assume not much is wrong with him and he's just settling in. I''ll keep a close eye on him. I gave him a piece of celery this morning just incase he was dehydrated as its a watery vegetable and he woolfed it down (hardly surprising considering he polished off dinner in about 15mins. People will think I'm starving him!!) so maybe that helped.

Right, time to go for bunny snuggles (or just let him run riot and I'll sit there until he wants to have a stroke)
