Both in our 60's my wife and I want to move in the area. Not in the City but a small town/Village within easy travelling distance. If someone could come up with some suggestions then I will know where to start .

We have some main criteria. Must be fairly near a railway station. Also able to get to the local main hospital easilly using public transport. I drive but my wife doesn't.

We also want to rent a property. Cannot go through all the hassle of buying again. A two bedroomed place would be nice and the budget in the region of £500 to £600 per month. Is that a reasonable rent for what we are aimong at?

A sort of market town would be nice with some nice walks in the countryside at hand.

Would welcome any siggestions please then maybe I will have some sort of a 'start point'.

Thanks a lot.

A good choice for the given criteria might be Hathersage .. lovely countryside , a bit pricey though (not sure about the hospitals but I'd expect there to be good links to Sheffield which has excellent hospitals. Other choices would be Chesterfield (west side) or Dronfield, both market towns surrounded by countryside, Chesterfield has its own hospital. Hope this helps

Yes the Hope Valley is only 12 miles from Sheffield, If you had been a couple of weeks earlier there was a lovely house not far from my Mums in the centre of Bamford with a huge garden that was up for rent at £550 a month. There are buses that go to sheffield from each village but the only villages in the valley that actually have a train station are Hathersage, Bamford, Edale, Hope and Grindleford ... actually Bobbys old cottage on the corner in Grindleford was up for rent the last time I drove by. Having lived in Grindleford for quite a few years I can tell you it's a lovely friendly village.
Good luck and hope you find something nice
