It is coming - October 3rd sees the release of the expansion pack for Age of Mythology.

I cannot believe I know that. I cannot believe I am waiting for it. The only other game I was ever hooked on was when I was 12 and played 'Pssssst' on my ZX speccy for thirteen hours with only toilet breaks!!

Anyone else got a game they just HAVE to play?

Looks great ... and I loved all the Age of Empires games ... love anything like that.

I totally love space colonization stratagy games ... so if you know a good one ...

Yep - I do mean the titans expansion.

I completed the main game ages ago and plain forgot about the expansion till I saw fortean times - since then the date has been burned upon my memory!! :D The game is very good and you can download differetn landscapes to pay on!

Nos (the hubby) plays alot of colonization games. I shall pick his brains for some!

I'm trying to 'acquire' Age of Mythology ... I kinda had it working but not a full version ... looks really nice.

I really want something where you can explore and fly over to different planets and make settlements and build stuff.

Then mine natural resources and build more stuff and spaceships and fight aliens and other players (if it's multiplayer).

There must be loads of games like that.

Homeworld is a good one for space (ship) based stuff.

if you just want a "Duke it out with tanks and guns and robots and that" thing - try Warzone2100

Then theres always Starcraft - which is dirt cheap at the moment as well.

Or in a similar vein, there are the classic X-Com games

Never seen the attraction of these games myself.

I know it's suppose to be addictive but don't you get bored sitting there playing with yourself for 10 hours at a time?

I think they went up to settlers 4 ... I played the first 2 to death ... great fun though :)

I've played homeworld too and it didn't much apeal to me. I was looking for something where you can build and manage colonies on planets ... life support systems etc ... grow your colony and mine for resources and build things.

Starcraft is excellent ... althought it's all combat based ... I want something where you have to provide life support and explore the planet surface and mine things ... and then fight aliens.

Defo going to try Age of Mythology though ... can you play it online ? might be fun to have a forum online battle ?

Also highly recommend Jagged Alliance 2 - 80s-style action film as a strategy game - you have to fight against evil dictators and take over their country... hang on a mo, that sounds strangely familiar...!

I used to be one of the top player in Europe on Warcraft II. I still play it but now I play on Warcraft III, Medal of Honor and Operation Flashpoint when I get spare time. Also 4D Sports which I originally played on the Amiga and it still the best boxing game today IMO.

My most addictive is either Resident Evil 2 for the PSX or GTA 3 for the PS2. I still love blasting them zombies and mowing down members of the Colombian Cartel!!!

I find www.legendofmir.net (an online role playing game) incredibly addictive... its a great chat interface with a game all in one lol.

I also love www.morrowind.com - offline game, now with 2 expansions! It's SOOOOO addictive!

I can understand that about Champ Manager. It's very addictive. I try to keep away from that game. I once read somewhere that it is one of the most common reasons for marriages breaking up.

I do believe you can play AOM online Jamie - never played online so that could be interesting.

I have in my dirty paws - Age of Mythology The Titans Expansion and it is soo juicy. They have Hecate as witchcraft goddess - right up my street :D
