View Full Version : Has anyone had to reorganise their with carer disabled pass
JayneRay 04-05-2008, 20:58 My son's new pass came yesterday on looking at it was not with carer as it should have been. Three phone calls I have to take old pass and new pass to transport exchange so they can e mail the relevant correct details. I was wondering had anyone else had a problem as I am the third one I know of.
Plain Talker 04-05-2008, 22:47 oh, yes, the incompetent prats that SYPTE outsourced their pass production to have fouled up big time.
I learnt that the company have taken in work from many PTE's and it looks like their reach has outstretched their grasp. They've bitten off more than they could chew.
I also know of shedloads of folk, (me included) who either have not recieved their pass in time, or they have been issued with a wrong pass (pension pass for someone disabled, for example, or in my case, the pass was issued as a "solo" pass not the "with carer" pass)
green-veggie 07-05-2008, 21:52 I got mine yesterday. Mine has been issued without carer too! Honestly, it's amazing how incompetent they've been. I wonder how many more people have the same problem..... and also what a waste of resources! Drives me nuts with frustration!
midvixen 08-05-2008, 09:56 Same here!
My daughter's pass has arrived, looking lovely, until you see it's for just her and not "with carer"!
grrrr!!
green-veggie 08-05-2008, 11:24 Just rang the Travel Line, ourjs is right, we all need to trail down to an Information Centre with both old and new passes and they'll sort it.
I asked if they'd had many calls about it and he said yes, unfortunately many disabled ppl were in the same situation!
WHAT A WASTE OF RESOURCES! It's so frustrating when what must be such a simple administrative task has messed up so badly.
I agree with midvixen 'Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr' Why is nothing ever straight forward!!!?
midvixen 08-05-2008, 11:53 What annoys me most is that we now have to get another passport photo done as we used our last one to send off for this wasted pass!
Thank goodness my daughter's pass doesn't expire until September. they may have pulled their finger out and processed the next one correctly by then!
Fingers crossed!
green-veggie 08-05-2008, 11:56 If that's the case, that's terrible. They should have to pay for that. But I did wonder if the ones we sent before have been electronically stored, so we don't???

I'm afraid that the old passes officially expire at the end of June- at least that's what was stated on the letter that came with my new pass (and that's irrelevant of my old pass not expiring until sometime in 2010).
I know that it's a total pain in the wotsit, but unless they are prepared to extend the old scheme to take account of the new scheme cock ups I think that there is very little time left to sort them out.
Plain Talker 08-05-2008, 14:44 Yes, if we have to get another photo done, it should be at the expense of the useless company who have fouled up, when producing the passes, not us who sent the original pics in to them, in in good faith.
This sucks.
SYPTE are no help, all they tell me when I ring up to see why my National pass hasn't come yet is that it is being "processed", what the hell?! I sent the pidgin' forms back LAST YEAR for chuff sake! :loopy:
midvixen 09-05-2008, 07:13 I'm taking my daughter into Meadowhall today to get it sorted, but I wil be asking for them to foot the bill for the photos!
It was their cock up - not ours and so it is only fair they should pay. We used her last photo sending for this first useless pass!

Let us know how it goes.
JayneRay 10-05-2008, 16:21 I am encouraged and spurred on by your replies be writing to the authorities expressing my concerns about their inept outsourcing.
verydull 19-05-2008, 18:53 i took mine in, and now i have been left with no pass apart from my old with carers, that no bus driver likes or understands.
I have been assaulted by a bus driver cos i had this pass and i was travelling alone (wanted to know where my carer was!), plus the fact i wanted to go to York this weekend...
grrrr
..dull..
midvixen 07-06-2008, 08:43 Took my daughter's pass in and after being told over the phone that we needed another passport photo, found that we didn't!
They just kept the new pass, and added a note and sent it off.
The old passes are still valid until the date stamped on them so at least I don't have to worry now until September when her pass runs out. hopefully, they will have sent the new one by then!
Plain Talker 07-06-2008, 16:56 I'm still waiting, over two months on, for my replacement.
I emailed my contact at SYPTE about the fact that it's now over 8 weeks aince they were notified that the pass was wrong, and that I could definitely feel a phone call or a letter to the Star coming on if things didn't move, soon...
I spoke to a chap at the star, the other day, and he was saying that there were shedloads of folk who have contacted him, who are in the same situation.
It's a flaming SHAMBLES.
JayneRay 09-06-2008, 19:15 Finally today I went out with my son and pass to be told by a very gruff driver who obviously had not passed any customer relations course to be told I could not use it. I pointed out the with carer symbol he huffed and puffed very impolitely but allowed me to escort my son. I think although some changesare for the better these passes have been complicated rather than simplified. Off soapbox now will have to wait a while to change the world the pots need washing:hihi:
Albert T Smith 14-06-2008, 14:16 I've read a number of postings that refer to the great mess made with the transport pass. I must be honest and say that I just sent mine in and a new one was returned with no trouble ready for use.
Am I unique ?

You are not ' On your soapbox '.
You are just letting others know of the problems faced by disabled people that they are not aware of unless they become disabled.
Keep it up.
