Does anyone know any shops in Sheffield that sell stained glass supplies, or any Uk web sites ?

I was thinking of taking stained glass window making as a hobby (it looked fairly easy on TV) but can't find anywhere to buy the stuff.

I was supprised that Hobbycraft had nothing at all.

Thanks.

Thanks for the suggestion, but they are for glass painting.

Alan and Barry are a bit suspicious looking.

Hi Nick2, i was thinking of taking this up too, Sheffield College run courses in it at Stocksbridge Community Centre and Walkley Community Centre, i was going to join up in September for one.

As for suppliers, a good website is http://www.tempsfordstainedglass.co.uk/

If you send off for their catalogue (it's free!!) there are loads of useful tips in there for the beginner as well as the more advanced artist. They're also very happy to anwer any questions you might have on the subject - a very good starting point.

there is a place in elsecar, not too far from the herritage centre.I think its called kansa crafts, but just did a search on google and couldn't find it.
I did an evening class at hope valley college, which was really good I bought quite a few bits, it's a really satisfying hobby, i just wish that I had the time and space to do it more often.
It does get expensive when you buy all the bits glass, cutter ,solder, copper foil/ lead, soldering iron etc....
If you do go to this place, make sure you ask to see the scraps out the back, rather than buying a perfect sheet, you can buy off cuts much cheaper and get alot more variety, for starting up.If you want me to find the adress/website for kansa crafts pm me I know I'll have info somewhere in a cupboard or pile around the house!
