any one know why all of a sudden when I am working on the computer the screen just freezes on the page i am on and the mouse arrow goes missing as well i am using windows 98SE
any advice please

the same thing happend to me a while back it could be the cold weather its not been very warm the last few days or something like that ( no laughing) lol:loopy:

This can have a number of causes it depends. It could be a hardware fault it could just be that you need to defrag your machine of even just empty the temporary internet files folder or clear out some unused programmes. We would probably need more detail. Unless it is doing this all the time I wouldn't worry too much as most machines crash like this at some point (in my experience anyway).

What happens when you press ctrl+alt+del when it freezes?

Does it happen every time you use the machine?

If so, how long before it does it?

Is it when using a particular application?

Possible problems:

- The processor could be overheating, causing your machine to crash.

- Could be caused by a virus

- Lack of free space on your C: drive

- Others.. But answer the above questions first, could be something simple!

hi I cant press control halt delete when it freezes as nothing happens it just seems to lock

Is that everytime you use the PC?

If so, how long until it does it?

Any particular applications that seem to be causing it?

any advice please my computer is also windows 98se and has also done this a few times it seems to happen if i am trying to work it too fast , when it has happened i have to press a reset button on the front to restart it , but touch wood its only happened the odd few times .so i have found do not try to rush things along .
